Your best gun that was not expensive

Best gun for cheap?

An early Remington Model 11. 22" Long plain jane barrel with a Weaver multi-choke, gawdawful rubber recoil pad hid the missing butt plate, but feels great. It is the only gun that I can hit flying target with.....I let a buddy of mine borrow it for the dove season.....I haven't seen it in two years now....

1977 Ruger New Model Blackhawk 357 bought from a great friend...I won't say cheap but worth every cent. Shots fired at 25 yards.

I am late to guns. NJ does not make it easy. The first gun I ever bought in 2010 was a used S&W 10-8 police trade in. Price tag said $125. I was amazed at the price. My first time shooting it, it broke. The shop sent it back to S&W for a repair on their dime. So, I got a factory repaired and looked-over Model 10 for $148 otd.

Savage model 67 ,bought thirty years ago at Woolworth .She has been in the field every year and runs flawlessly..Another thirty year old fine is this German made Falcon in .22 magnum accurate as can be.

I bought a S&W K22 Masterpiece (K15XXX) in a pawn shop for $75. It shoots so well that it makes me look like I know what I'm doing. I will never sell it.

I traded a pellet pistol that had lost a lot of its power and $10 for an unissued SKS with bayonet packed in cosmoline. It had all matching serial numbers and milled trigger guard and was very accurate and had a nice trigger pull and I really liked the gun and wanted to keep it but sold it for a huge profit!

Glock 30 Gen 4. 'Not expensive' under 500$. I say this because it's the best shooting pistol I have ever bought. Ya I put night sites & Talon grip panels & it also went under the dremmel operative procedure to trim the rear bump out of the trigger guard....it's just about perfect.

In 1966 I paid the princely sum of $160 for a Fox Sterlingworth 12 ga double barrel shotgun. The gun was made in 1921 making it 98 years old and it's still in fine shooting condition. I have taken everything from Quail to my first Whitetail with it and will eventually past it on to a family member. Some things were really built to last and the better quality American double shotguns certainly fall into that category.

Some of the best buys I've found lately have been Star BM semi-autos. They are well made, reliable and superb shooting pistols that sell in the $250-$300 range:

The Zastava CZ 99 Precision is another under valued firearm. They can be had used in minty condition for around $180. With some sweat equity to refinish the stock, they look very nice. Alternatively you can spend $80 on a NOS Rem Model 5 stock and have a great looking rifle for around $260 - about $150 less than a Czech CZ 455, and it'll shoot just as well.

I bought this Browning 1885 low wall in .22 Hornet for $600, about $600 under retail.

my FEG PA-63 in 9x18MAK would be my best bargain...
got 2 for about $400... guy included a third "parts gun" that did not work quite right and 6 magazines... $2.90 part fixed the "parts gun"... so either I got 3 for about $135 each or I got one for $2.90.... and for those not familiar with the PA-63... it is a "magnum" mutation of the Walther PPK system... alloy frame with steel slide...

Traded a set of binoculars straight across for a CZ 82 and 9 magazines...like that price a lot!

Forgot I bought 2 Original Vaqureo high gloss stainless in .45 cal 7.5 in barrels both for $695 I think I got a good deal on those.

Don't remember what I paid for it in the late '60's, but it wasn't much. It was a Stevens 311 (with the Sears name on it) twenty gauge side-by-side, 28" full and modified. Double triggers, extractors only. Very plain Jane indeed.

It became my all-time favorite shotgun. It swung very naturally and took a boxcar load of doves and rabbits for me. Wish I still had it.
