Your best gun that was not expensive

A 27-2 in a LGS, 6" barrel, cleaning tools, papers and a presentation case for $350.00 otd. It did have pachmayer grips on that I promptly changed. Sold the gun to a LGS about 6 months later for $1500.00! A tidy profit!

Second vote for the Kel Tec P32, followed by the P3AT. Great little pistols for a price much less than I think they're worth . . .

I bought a tiny plastic gun about 30 years ago. Everybody laughed. That little gun has followed me faithfully and bagged many varmints. It cost me $185 brand new. P32 by Kel-Tec. Hands down best gun per round fired I've ever bought.

So far, the best firearm that I have picked up for very little money has been a S&W 19-3. I think I paid $150 for it. Blued, four inch barrel, but very finish challenged. Rust freckles everywhere, side plate rusty, back strap so pitted that it looked like it had been deeply stippled. It came with Pachmayr rubber presentation stocks and a set of Herrett's Shooting Star stocks. As bad as the outside looked, the insides looked great and it is a wonderful shooter.

I bought this Sears 12 gauge pump in 1978 or so for $99.00 from the local Sears store. It also came with a 24" slug barrel that I haven't used to this day. :) I did the paint job. I THINK it was made by High Standard.

Just last week I paid $350.00 for this 1953, K-22 Combat Masterpiece.

Half the guns I have were not expensive because at the time I bought them they were used guns. In 60s everyone was trading in the guns that are now quasi collectors items for the latest and greatest on the market.
With a average hunting rifle or repeating shotgun going from $100-$150 the trade in value of the older guns was low. So a lot of the older guns that were $40-$50 are now expensive guns. I just wish I had kept all the $10
22s I had back then.

I'd have to say two. This Norinco AK that was used and abused so bad I pulled the top over off and poured gasoline down it over a 5 gallon bucket to get the gunk out. I traded an old O/U 20 gauge for it. Incredibly accurate and reliable.

I guess my favorite "cheap" gun is this Rem 870 Police Magnum from the SCHP, an old cruiser weapon. I replaced the barrel with one off GB, refinished the stock in kinda natural finish I guess, put a full choke in it and now its my turkey, squirrel, muskrat, duck gun. I'd say $300 max.

Please ignore my big feet, size 13s are hard to hide...

My best gun at a cheap price! That would have to be my Model 15 2'' I bought from a LGS back in the mid 70s so I could shoot our snub nosed ( also called off Duty) PPC shooting at our local gun clubs. That class was restricted to 2 1/2 or less

I was looking for a Smith 19 but in that era good Smith's were hard to find. I did find this beat up 15 at a LGS I did a lot of business at. It had set in the case for a long time and I needed something so I negotiated price with the dealer and he agreed to let me pull the side plate and do a good look at the gun. All tests and look inside were OK and as the gun was beat up the price was great!. It went down a flight of stairs with its LEO owner and looked it.

Dealer wanted that gun gone so the price (which I do not remember was extremely low, $40 possibly). Just about gave it to me! To make a long story short I put Packs on it changed the sight leaf, improved the trigger pull, put on a Ranger trigger and the gun was very accurate. Won my class many times with that ugly duckling. I still have it!

Charter Arms Police Bulldog snubby, .38special, bought in the early 80's. Pachmeyer compac grippers made it perfect. Still does it's duty as necessary, though wife says it is heavier than she wanted, so she chose a Ruger LCR, .38 special. She prefers wadcutters, which with the Bulldog were like .22lr. will see how the LCR does for her?

FN P35 (Browning Hi Power) 9mm pistol. Took it from a NVA soldier who had no further use for it in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

All it cost me was 12 months of my life away from my family and a few scars.

Stolen in a burglary of my home about 40 years ago. Never recovered. I replaced it with a newer Browning Hi Power, but wish I still had the first.

In 1981 I bought a New Haven(Mossberg) 12 gauge pump new for $130.00 and for $30.00 I got a 30" full choke barrel for it. Mossberg had a promotion at the time. The gun came with a C-Lect choke barrel and it never worked for me, ended up sawing it off and using the barrel for quail. The full choke barrel and me killed bunches of geese, ducks, squirrels and a few deer. I killed my first turkey with it also. The same day I sawed off the C-lect choke I killed 3 quail on the first covey rise. With installed rifle sights the short barrel does OK with slugs. I haven't shot it in years but it's a good-un.

H&R Model 676 22/22magnum revolver.
That, or my Savage Model 340 22 Hornet.
Sadly, I've sold them both.

M1 Garand Springfield manufactured in 1955 with all correct parts, except the National Match OP rod. I ordered it from the DCM and received it from the CMP in 1995 for the princely sum of $250.

Ithaca 1911a1 in 1980 for 125.00 that came with the DCM box flat as new... traded it off long ago like a dope.

In 1986-7 my best friend and I found a Model 1873 Cavalry Carbine That checks out to be 1/5 made in 1875! Make NRA Antique Very Good! Worth almost $2000 at the time, paid $75! Buying my buddy's portion out cost me some more than that but I still own it!

Somebody above mentioned Savage 340 in 22 Hornet. I'm on my third. They all outshoot everything else in the world except Stevens 219 in Hornet. This third 340 is from the 50's. I never paid more than $175 for any of them, but it out shot the Anschutz 54 that was made for the NRA show! So I sold the Anschutz! (and made over a grand!)
