Your First S&W

My first was a model 36 snubbie obtained in 1974. My last was a model 642 a coupla years ago. The 36 is still pristine and is tied with a Ruger Police Service Six, also obtained in 1974, for my personal favorites. The model 36 is far and away better then the model 642, just not as light.

Mine was a 29-2 cased 6.5" barrel correct tools & paperwork:cool: That was back in the 80's wish I'd kept that one :( my new 29-10 though nice just isn't the same :(

6" 629 unfluted classic hunter about 3 years ago. I am now addicted, Is there any help?

My first Smith was on the day I turned 21 back in 1989. Found it at Pistol Petes Pawn Shop across the street from Fort Cambell KY. It was a like new 645 (Thank you Miami Vice). My next Smith was when I turned 42, Wife got me a M&P 15/22 and mother in law gave me a like new (95%) model 17 . Here in the last few months I got a Model 66 and a 3919. Nothing but Smiths from now on!

First one I ever shot....pre-Model 14 K-38. I was @ 12.

First one I ever owned....Brazilian Contract 1917. Stupidly sold it not too long ago. Several other ones since then; 6904, 469, another Brazi 1917, 622

My first firearm was an old 4" M&P with most of the bluing gone I bought for $110 in 1991. Can't remember now if it was pre or post war but it was long action with the big ejector knob.

I traded it on a used 6" 686 which I later traded on a brand new 629 Classic 6.5 inch that I still have.

Wish I still had the other two as well. I've lost my records for those which would have the serial numbers so I'll probably never know if I stumble across them again.

Last year I replaced the M&P with a similar one (slightly newer) for $138.

My first S&W was a M-39 9mm pistol I bought when I was stationed at Offutt AFB back in 1981. It was the first handgun I ever owned.

model 10-5

pawn shop 4" tapered barrel not a mark on it.... still have it..

First purchased S&W was a M41 with 5-1/2" hvy barrel I still have. In mid-80's, I won a blued S&W revolver, 4", adjustable sights in 38 Spl as a participant in a pistol league, 2 weeks later it was sold or traded, but never shot by me. First purchased revolver was a M629, unfluted cylinder with 8-3/8" barrel -- the addiction began. Now there are sets of L-frames, M-19s, and M29 / 629.

Children out-of-the-house and a new gun-loving wife make a difference.

First S & W

The first Smith & Wesson was a Model 29 with 6-inch barrel. Still have the barrel, sadly not the rest of the gun.

My great-uncle gave my Dad his police service revolver, a K-38 Combat Masterpiece, back in the mid 60s. It was the first handgun I ever shot. My Dad always told me it was really mine, but he would keep it for me. When he passed away in '04 I took possession of it. It wasn't the first gun I purchased, but it is MY FIRST GUN!

Mine was a Model 41 with 5.5 inch barrel. I ordered it in 1997 from a lumber and building supply store that did a side business in guns. Believe I paid $675 for it.

When it showed up, it sported the revolver style rear sight, and I was a bit dissappointed. Still have it though, and now it wears a Matchdot and Nill grip.

Mod 49 blue the year was 1979. Brand new from a gun shop in NW Ohio on ST RT 20 'bout a mile from the Toledo,Oh airport.

M36 SB 2". Inherited it when my Dad passed in 1989. It was the first and it will be the the last. Foolishly sold the others in his small stash. Didn't appreciate them at the time. Have replaced most of those once I got "the bug". Guess the apple really doesn't fall that far from the tree.
