Your First S&W

Mine was a Model 15. I later sold it, and wished I hadn't. Then a couple years ago, a friend asked if I wanted to buy her Mod 15-4, in excellent condition, for $150. Need I say more?:)

A 6" blued M&P SN 503006 used in 1977 for $65. Two years later I joined the local PD, where the chief told me "cowboy" guns were not allowed and to find myself a 4". Traded it and some cash for a 4" M28-2, which stayed with me throughout my career. That M&P was slick.

625jm is my first S&W handgun. What a nice piece of work this one is. I how have my eye on a 610. If it shoots half as good as the 625 I'll be very happy.

My first S & W also was my first handgun, a 6" 686-6 that I bought brand new and on a whim 3 years ago. I'd been shooting a few times with a friend and was resolved to get a handgun, but I was totally clueless as to what to buy. I was driving down a highway and saw a sign advertising a gun store. On a whim, I pulled in. I told the sales clerk that I was interested in a handgun "for target shooting." He produced two models, a 617 6" gun and the 686. I bought the 686 because, despite knowing next to nothing, I'd read an article in some gun magazine about the 686 touting it as one of the finest and most accurate handguns made. So, that's what I bought.

I've never regretted it for a minute. The 686 has proven to be every bit as accurate as was claimed. For the next six months I fired the gun exclusively at distances from 20 feet to 25 yards and was never disappointed. That was many, many handgun purchases ago but I still have that 686, still shoot it often, and will never sell it.

Mine was a bottom feeder: A Smith and Wesson 2nd Generation 645 in .45ACP. I traded for it used in 1990 or so. I never should have sold it, although I prefer 1911s these days.

My first brand new S&W was a no-lock 642-1 when they brought them back out in 2008.

My latest should be shipping any day now - a new PC 627 "Bloodwork"!

Parkerized .38-200 Victory reamed to .38 Spl, spring of 1973. Had local smith install new, complete .38 Spl. cyl. for about $40. Started the infection that has resisted any cure to this very day.

A very high condition Model 25-2 6 1/2" Nickel cuz it was so purty. This was in October 1989 and was the beginning of my love of S&W revos. It was at a local gun show and the dealer briefly tried to renege when he realized it was a 6 1/2" bbl. Another dealer at the same show tried to buy it from me at that show....I've still got it!!!
