I need a pocket pistol terribly. I want a 10+1 380 that I can truly throw in a draw string shorts and go out with the family.

I've been looking at the LCP Max and the BG 2.0

I really, and I mean really want to like the BG 2.0 but I've seen and read so many issues (same issues, not numerous). They are dead triggers and really poor accuracy.

The most serious problems that existed at introduction seem to have been fixed. If you want to shoot at distances more than 7 yards with accuracy, you may have to adjust the sights. Check the pistol out in the LGS before you buy it to make sure there is nothing wrong with that specific gun.

Have you held a BG2.0 in your hand? It's an amazing little gun.

No, I need to hold both the LCP Max and the BG 2.0

From the videos I have seen I do like that the BG 2.0 allows you to get a higher purchase on the pistol.

Is the accuracy "issues" having to do with the sights or the pistol itself?

I understand this is the comp version but this really put me off

His complaints in the video have to do with accuracy in shooting at longer range. That is one problem that has not been fixed in the BG2.0 or the BG2.0 comp version. If you decide you want to adjust the sights, I would suggest you try the front sight which is much easier. Or take it to a gunsmith.

Not all BG2.0s have misaligned sights but many do. The sights seem to be all over the place but often the pistol shoots to the left.

The problem may be with the pistol barrel or slide alignment but it can be corrected by altering the sights.

I have both. Both are accurate and have been reliable for me. The big difference is, at the range, I can shoot as many rounds as I want through the
BG 2.0 very comfortably. With the LCP MAX, I have to put it away after about 20 or 30. I’m 74 with arthritic hands and the BG 2.0 was a godsend for me.

No experience with the Bodyguard because S&W was so late to the party I'm already heavily invested in 2 Max with tons of magazines holsters etc.

This. Had an LCP Max, wasn't fond of the ergos, and the trigger, repeatedly, bit me. It sits higher in the hand as well.
The 2.0 is an ergonomic wonder, whether the low bore axis or what, but it is amazingly soft shooting. Have the 1.0 version as well, and the newer gun is night and day different in recoil.
As regards the sights, a lot of it must depend on the shooter's hands. Mine have shot left, as have others. But a left handed buddy's gun shoots to the sights. Go figure.
I have replaced the rear sights with the ones from the BG1.0, which gives a much better sight picture.

After purchasing and shooting the BG2.0, there's no comparison between the two. The LCP Max was hard to control because of the high bore axis and crappy trigger. I can easily hit an 8" gong at 25 yards with the BG2.0 (different sights installed). I sold the LCP Max, knowing I'd never use it again.

What sights did you go with? To me it seems this might be the key to this handgun.

I own both. After getting the BG 2.0, I relegated the LCP Max to the safe. It just HURTS my hands after a few rounds. Not so with the BG 2.0, which I pocket carry quite often (using the soft holster that came with the LCP Max).

I agree with CWilly8 - the LCP Max is quite snappy with all defensive ammo that I've tried, as well as range ammo. The Bodyguard 2.0 is quite nice, especially after replacing the "Low and Left" factory sights with XL tritium sights. The BG2.0 is fun to practice with at the range - no sting, no trigger slap. I like this gun, despite the well known S&W foibles.

I won’t buy a BG380-2 because you have to remove the whole rear sight to get the striker out and as a competition shooter I KNOW that the striker and channel needs to be clean and dry to be reliable. I have an LCP Max. I put McCarbo parts in it so I can shoot it more accurately

Hi there, love the BG2.0 over the Ruger, but when out and about with gym shorts I still love my BG1.0 version better. I just feel better with the smaller profile in the BG1.0

Only one company makes them as of now, XS in orange or green front.
This may well be, however, as a satisfied user of Night Fision sights, I contacted them several weeks ago to inquire if they will be offering their Accur8 sights for the BG2.0 any time soon. Their prompt reply indicated they hope to have the Accur8 product for the BG2.0 on the market around September 1st. this year. I'll be buying a set then.

I own both and love the BG 2.0 but had some feeding and sight issues as many have said. The LCP Max had looser tolerances so the slide will rattle a little but it was never finicky like the BG and never ever had a single feeding failure. The BG had a half dozen or more till I got 250 rounds through it. The LCP Max was much easier to rack from the outset and had no problem with loading the magazines. I prefer the size and the ergonomics of the BG but if i was in a do or die situation I'd choose the LCP.
