your 'run for your life' guns

My M-1 Garand and my S&W 28-2 would go for sure. If I have a vehicle, the Browning A-5 would have to come along. A 22 of some sort would be good the have, as well. I'd rather stay home and keep everything!

If I had to run to the woods, I would grab my 4" 66 and my scoped Browning BL22. My primary goal, at least in the short term, would be to hide. With that in mind, a good .22 is an efficient and relatively quiet dinner getter. The 66 would just be there in case someone decided that they needed my dinner more than me.

For the rifle it would either be my SKS or my M-1. The SKS gets the nod on being handier and not needing clips to be loaded. The M-1 get the nod for power.

For the handgun it would either be my H & K USP in .45 ACP or my S & W model 27-2 6". Best advantage of the 27 is not needed a magazine to be loaded.

A nice rimfire or shotgun would round things out nicely.

If I was running from a lot of guys, an 18" FAL carbine by DSA with a 1.75x6 leupold and my Para-Ordance P-14.
Just a few guys and out for a long time, a Winchester pre-64 Model 70 featherweight in .308 and my S&W mountain gun .44 mag.
A big brown bear, a .50 Alaskan M-71 Browning and a Freedom Arms.454 Casull.
The mountain gun goes everywhere with me on a day to day basis and so it would probably get the nod.

Without hesitation my M&P 15 as as primary my XD .40 as a secondary with my J frame stashed in my truck with the food and water. first stop....army/ navy store for a "resupply" ;)

my trusty daisy bb gun,slingshot,case of beer,and my party hat........what!!!!! o.k my winny 1200 12 ga.defender,smith mod.63 and smith 9422 xtr...love my 22's

Would probably opt for 3-4. My Beretta Xtrema 12ga, LMT .223, Sig 522 and S&W M&P 15T. If one of them had to be a handgun, my 627 8 shot.

Lets see, my Model 27 because I have so much .357 and .38 ammo. My long gun would be my Ithaca Deerslayer. I would take a third though, my 1853 Enfield Musketoon because I have alot of supplies for it and there are alot of deer nearby.

I'm too old and too stubborn to leave. This isn't the best place to defend, but the next one (the retirement place in Tennessee) will be better.

I guess I feel a bit like the 82nd Airborne soldier in Normandy who was ordered to hold a crossroads. When told by a retreating sergeant, "The Germans are right behind us", he replied, "Don't worry, Sarge, the *******s aren't coming any farther!"

Buck
Come on over the hills cousin, we're happy to have you and your guns up here with us!

Pistol: 1911a1 .45acp
Rifle: Any .30cal, M1 M14 FAL AR10 AK etcetc.

If the stars were aligned right (and heck since aliens are here stranger things have already happened) I would see if I could appropriate a "Ma Deuce" .50 and an FN SCAR.....oh and a Westley Richards .577NE double rifle.

As far as running though, running far isn't much of an option. I'd rather die than leave my woodstove anyway.:)

Just 2? I'm afraid I'd grab more than that but to play along. First up would be my go to SHTF rifle, an Arsenal 107F with my chest rig and 4506 attached.

Most men go to war with one long gun. A .223 or 308/30-06 have worked for many..I can't think of a better do everything gun than a .223 with lots of ammo. I say gun and not weapon because I am thinking this is as much for survival as war.
I would keep my caliber/calibers small. I could do most everything with a .22 and 12 gauge shotgun. However, I am thinking I would go with a versital caliber like .223 , .38./.357 or .22 and .22 magnum. I always liked the idea of a 22lr/22mag combo revolver with a strong built .22 magnum carbine.
As for pistol / revolver I don't think there would be much use for one unless it was something like a .22/.22 mag or 38/357 to go with a combo carbine of the same caliber.
The idea of having a bug hideout as an ace up the sleave is very appealing.

My AR-15 16" barrel rifle (30 round mags).

My Sig P226R in 9mm (18 round mags).

My 6" Colt Python Stainless (6 round speed loaders).

But if I could I would grab my backpack and duffle and throw all my .357Mag S&W's (to keep ammo logistics simple) in plus as much .38SPL, .357Mag, 9mm, and 5.56 NATO ammo I could carry.

Bushmaster M4 with EOTech sight, Beretta 92 (easy to find ammo, mags, etc., if you use the same as the good guys), .22 J frame in pocket.

If an alien spaceship landed on your house and you and your family had to flee your home and run for your lives, which TWO guns from your EXISTING collection would you take with you as defense against both the invaders and the panic stricken lawless mobs? COLT HBar and G-22.

WOTW's is a great movie. Some real "think about it" moments when the vehicle is taken and when the psycho officer is threatening folks, etc.

Broken ribs... Ouch!!! Be cool and do as the Dr. says... get well.

I'd be comfortable with my m66 and a Remington 870. If I could have three, I'd take my Remington 700 in .308.

M65 4" and a Mossberg 500A with the 24" screw in chokes. Mod. and IP chokes on the belt. It shoots 3"magnum slugs with the IP choke, and shot shells with the modified choke.
Peace,
gordon

I ignored this thread at first 'cause I'm a little too old and busted up to run. I'll probably just stay and fight right here. Still and all I couldn't help but think about the original question.

Have to say I'd take the old SP1 AR-15 in the safe and all the magazines I could load, plus which ever Glock I have the most magazines for. It wouldn't be the G19 'cause I'd give that and all its magazines to my wife.

Sorry to say it guys but those ugly Glocks are far more reliable than my beloved S&W revolvers.

Dave

My Remington Springfield 03, and my Ruger GP100 4" .357.
My M16A1 clone will be slung across my back, with lots of 30 round mags.

My 03 is in like new condition, and I know it will go bang when I pull the trigger. The bolt is so slick I can fire aimed shots as fast as a semi auto. The M16A1 semi clone is for close up "spray" type stuff, plus I have lots of magazines and .223 ammo......the .357 GP100 is for when the aliens are right on top of me and I need a "last stand" holdout gun for fighting at arms length distance.

If 30-06 and .357 can't kill it, I guess we're all screwed anyway.

If I die fighting aliens, it's gonna be with American made guns in my hand:)
