I see a lot of recommendations for the Mika pocket holster, and maybe it's just me, but they LOOK sorta bulky. If I were to attempt pocket carry of my 638 I'd really like to use as thin of a package as possible. Does the Mika add bulk to what seems to already be a little too bulky of a gun for that application to me, or is that just my visual interpretation of how they "look".
They're the least "bulky" of any I've tried. The material is very thin compared to others and the strip around the "mouth" is just springy enough to keep the holster open a little if you want to reholster with the holster still in your pocket.
I ordered a couple of the J-frame Mika holsters several years ago. I had one of each for the two pocket bottom angles.
I didn't like them...too thick and bulky compared to the Wild Bill's horsehide one and other similar open ones. I soon sold them.
Maybe he has thinned them down someway during the years.
I'll stick with this style in leather.

The problem I've had with every single leather pocket holster is they are too tight. I wish someone would make one like the one in your picture but loose fitting.
You have to use the Mika for a month or so and it flattens out and "fits" to the gun.
