Your wedding date

December 27, wanted the tax deduction.

We were the last thing the JP did before closing the office for New Year break Dec 29th for the same reason.

When we went back to work after the New Year break the First Sergeant called us in the office and threatened to have us court-martialed for failing to get prior permission from the chain of command.

The OP directed his question about wedding dates to the gentlemen of this forum, so I will attempt to respond in a helpful manner.

A gentleman would never bring a date to his wedding because that might cause unnecessary friction with his intended bride and extended family.

I hope this is helpful.

We picked the date as the Friday before the week in which I was to test with 3 police departments in another state. That way I could take her along and not be in violation of the Mann Act. We got married at 8AM and drove for the next 2 days. 8AM on Monday I started testing at the first (also largest & best-paying) PD. 6PM the chief offered me a job and we turned around and drove back to start packing. It's been 40 years as of VJ Day.
