I like the 115 XTP factory ammo......
one reason that I buy the bullet for my practice reloads for target work.

I have fired the factory ammo in my 9mm's at the range at 15 yards with a sand bag rest.

a 3" Kahr with two targets gave me 5 @ 1.35' & 8 @ 2.24"

the 3.5" C9 gave me 5 @ 1.08" and 8 @ 1.99"

My M92 5" pistol gave 5 @ 1.09" and 8 @ 1.22"

For factory ammo it does quite well and recoil is very manageable.

Good shooting.

Recently bought this box at a local store.
Haven’t shot any yet.

Ed, was your ammo US Cartridge brand?
Thnks
Jim

It has been quite a while since I shot it.
I don't remember if it was Hornady or another company that used their bullet...
but I don't recall it being in a red ammo box like the Hornady stuff
so it had to be another company, that was probably a little lower in price, 6-7 years ago.

I have yet to try their plastic tip ammo, though..........( except 165gr .30 cal )
or any "New" ammo in three years.

Per their spec it is loaded to 1,150 fps: just about what you would expect from 5gr of WIN 231.

Not a powder puff load by any means: comparable to American Gunner @ about $0.92 per round. These XTP bullets are typically available for under $0.30 each, which is just about the difference between the OP's purchase price and the factory ammo.

Hopefully it would perform along the same lines...?

As such, if one is looking for a self defense round, really not a terrible premium to pay over the typical 115gr FMJ offerings at $0.40-0.45 each, IMHO.

Cheers!

P.S. Kind'a think it is now up to the OP to get back and let us know how his purchase performed: the vast majority of these kinds of posts are made prior to purchase

Received ammo today. Correct round count.
Bullets are XTP`s. Primer seating OK. O A L looks ok

Will test fire in a few days in 539 559 & 39-2 will chronograph.

Shot US Cartridge 115 gr XTP`s today.
39-2 12 yds and 539 ran great too! 5 mags 39-2,
559 1 stovepipe. 2 fail to eject. Gun needs lube rough slide to frame fit.
Conclusion. Pretty good ammo. 39-2 eats it like candy.

Chronyed today
US Cartrudge ammo115gr XTP, Low 1040 High 1080. less velocity than advertised.
checked ZQ1 Nato. 1290 average 10 shots.

The one stove pipe migh be because that ammo is 100 fps slower than most of the 115 gr JHP on Midways shelves.

It has to be a soft shooter, though.
Even better if the groups make you happy.

Maybe a little more bear grease on that 559 pistol, would help out.

Ed, It does shoot soft.
It is reasonably accurate. It1s been 100% reliable in the 39-2& 539,
it`s time to strip clean and relube the 559 Im sure it will be fine then.
My bad hands keep me from doing it myself. My friends help. Im lucky.
Take care Ed.
