What's your favorite brush beater rifle?

Marlin 1895G 45-70

Talking heavy brush, close range? Mini 30 for me. I have a 150g Nosler Ballistic Tip homeload that works right nice in it. :)

This is my next piece. I've got a 2x EER scope to mount on it. It's on order, so as soon as the factory ships it, I can post pics. Here's an image.

Thats nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I were going to beat the brush...this is what I'd take. It's been "adjusted" to better fit the needs of the brush beater. A real tack driver out to 100 yards:

Here's my latest brush beater, or should I say chuck beater?

I never thought I would get into the black rifle thing, but it has been fun and accurate too.

In really rough weather, I grab the ol' 1969 Parkerized Ithaca Model 37 DSPS 12 gauge slug gun. Light, sturdy and easy to tote, it is a great brush gun too.

Any short barreled smooth bore slug gun that always groups three rifled slugs from the bench into 1 1/2" . . . well, I consider a shooter like this a rifle . . . albeit one with a heck of a "thump!;)

Best of all for me . . . note the rare Left Hand safety!!!

Rifle? It would have to be this 1973 Remington Model 700LH in .270. It shows the evidence of being enjoyed a lot as I've been up and down so many deer stands through the years. Topped with a Burris "Posi-lock;"

This is a 1895 winchester 30-40 src. It was built in 1931. When I bought the rifle close to 35 years ago it didnt have a rear sight. I had a old friend that had a windfield? Rear sight off a officers model springfield. We didnt have to drill, but the handguard wont fit over the longer sight. I wish I knew its history! Its fun to carry and use the real deal. It does the job.

Why did you have to show this? My grail rifle is a new 95 carbine in 30-06. Mainly for the cal. is I have a ton of 30-06 ammo. I always wanted a 95 and this one looks so Texas/Arizona Rangerish. You're very lucky.

For the past 30+ years my brush gun, and by that I mean obscured and short sight range and considerable bushwacking, has been an old Remington 600 in .308, that I got after my father passed on. Nice and light, short barreled, and packs a "wump".

Here lately I have been carrying my Sig 556 pistol with a holo sight for the same basic reasons, just not as much "wump," on either end.

Mine is a late 60s Marlin 336RC in .30-30. It loves the Hornady Leverevolution ammo.

It was my grandfather's brush rifle, my dad's brush rifle, and has been mine for the past 7 years or so. Been around the block several times, but still shoots like a dream.

Lever rifles seem to be well represented here, here's a pic of my Winchester "Ranger" 30/30, with SKS sling and butt stock ammo carrier:

This is the rifle that started my love of Winchester rifles, I had so much fun shooting and handloading for it, I had to have more.

Side by side with a 1949 vintage Model 94 in 30/30, original and unmolested. This one only gets to hunt on sunny, pleasant days, no dragging it through the brush:

Another fan of the Remington Model 600 in .308 Win. here. Mine's fitted with a Pachmayr pad and a Bushnell 1.5x4 scope and an aluminum trigger guard to replace the nylon one. A great, fast handling brush gun.

Over the years I have used several rifles as utility/foul weather guns.

A Winchester Trapper in 44 Mag, a Remington Mod 7 synthentic in 308, or 350 RM,
A Blaser R 93 Tracker in 308 or 375 H&H, or one of my most favorites an H&K 91 in 308...

I too have a Winchester Ranger that was a 30-30 but now is a 30-30 Ackley Improved. It sports peep sights, a sling and is mounted in a ballistic nylon stock and handguard. It is reasonably accurate easily shooting 'minute of angle of deer'. My total outlay is less than $300. It has been all over the US of A as it was permanently mounted just behind the rear seat of my pickup. It is now in pieces being readied for a "Duracoat" paint job. ........... Big Cholla

A Winchester Model 1886 .45-90 that has been shortened to a barrel length of 22 inches. Photo was taken a few years ago when I had darker hair and more of it.
