Well, I did it. Ordered a Match Target Colt MT-6731 HBAR II. That is the 16” barrel model rifle. Thanks to all contributors on the other thread where I was trying to make up my mind. For my purposes here on the ranch, it seems this little rifle should do the job.

Now all I need to do is figure out how to mount a 3x9x40mm Leupold scope on it. I would like to do this only one time if possible, i.e. not buy mounts and rings only to re-buy something else later after an expensive education. I have looked (on their website) at the A.R.M.S. #5 mount. A.R.M.S., Inc.[hsh]05
Would that be a pretty good way to go? And would I use standard Weaver rings to go with it?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Check out American Defense Manufacturing or Larue Tactical. Both manufacture mil-spec mounts that are top of the heap. Choose the appropriate mount for the eye relief you need. ARMs non-throw relief lever mounts are okay but ADM and Larue will outlast the gun. I recommend the one piece models that integrate the rings and mount.

I personally prefer the American Defense as mount adjustment requires no tool and the rail attachment bar has more contact with the gun's rail.

You have a great little gun. Have fun.

I use the Burris XTR 'extra high' rings for the AR. I think the last part of the product no. is 082 or so. Just mount them to your rail & the scope is at the right height. The Larue stuff is top notch But Burris & Warne are lower cost alternatives that are fine for the average user.
