I own a Shield 9mm and a M&P bodyguard .380 and I was seriously considering picking up a M&P Shield 40 but I backed out and instead picked up a Kahr CW40 in .40S&W. I havent had a chance to shoot it yet and I've seen some decent reviews on You Tube. I'm very happy with my Shield & BG 380, they have both been very reliable & fun to shoot. Paid $449 OTD and my LGS even thru in a 50 rnd box of Federal Hydra Shoks to sweeten the pot.

Good choice, sir. It will be fun to hear your range report and maybe see a picture. ;)

My first Kahr was also a CW40. A great gun and easy to shoot, it was 100% reliable right out of the box, even for my wife.

Eventually, I decided the longer slide and grip were too awkward for pocket carry, which I enjoy.

So, these PM40's became the carry guns of choice.

As you might expect, the smaller power house pistols required a little more effort to become fully reliable.

But, they haven't missed a beat in the last couple of thousand rounds.

Yes, I enjoy shooting them. They are surprisingly easy to shoot accurately.

Admittedly, my current pocket gun is a 642-1, which is much more handsome.

Never the less, one of these two Kahr pistols goes with me every day on the bicycle in a paddle holster.

Man does not live by S&W alone.

I am confident you will enjoy yours. :)

Congrats on the new Kahr. I hope it works well for you.
Have fun and be safe.

I enjoy the larger tp40 s my primary CC but also have a cm9 . I have yet to ever shoot a single 180gr load . I like to stay with the 155, 165gr bullets . Kahrs have some tight chambers if you reload but run short loads well. They will pass threw a bulge buster or RX die easier than brass fired from most all other 40cal pistols . When I bought a m&p40 I found my reloaded 155gr swc range ammo I load would not run reliably. I had to make more at a longer moa .

Run it wet when new . No junk ammo when new and hoooold on tight . A piece of old used free from bike shops 1.75" inner tube makes a good tacky grip sleeve .

You might also find 50 rounds is enough at a setting at the range , 75 to 100 max . Not like shooting a bigger heavier handgun .

You now own a great thin light CC pistol

Finally got around to uploading a few pics.... I havent shot it yet so no range reports yet... I have disassembled it, wiped it down and lubed it. It's an interesting & yet simple design I was surprised to see the simplicity of the trigger assembly...Reassembly was no big deal and I've been dry firing it with my Traditions .40 cal snap caps. Sweet trigger!

I see a rubber slip on grip in the near future.

In addition to the sweetness, I was able to email Alien Gear right before they shipped my holsters that I wanted to add in a extra shell for my CW40 and they did....The holsters will be in this friday & coincidentally along with my order of .40 S&W from Freedom Munitions!

I wish you the best of luck with your CW40. I bought one several years ago and really liked everything about it except for the reliability. After three trips back to the factory I sent it down the road (with full disclosure to the buyer). The positives were strong enough (trigger was great, grip fit me perfectly and slim design was easy to carry) that I bought a K40 which has functioned 100% and has been my primary off-duty gun from the start.

Even at that, I still wish the CW40 had worked out since I would prefer to carry it over anything else.

UPDATE!!!

I have put in 675 rounds thru my CW40 w/o a single malfunction. Remington UMC, Hornady custom 155 gr. XTP's, Federal 180 gr. HST's, Freedom Munitions 180 gr. FMJ's. Federal 135 gr. Hydra shoks... I would say that the best groups came with the Federal 180 gr. HST's...

I am still trying to figure out the bar-dot sights.... :o

Paint the rear sight flat black if you think that will help. They work well but some folks have a learning curve with new things ! Great size pistol for point shooting anyhow .

I have a PM 9 and PM 40. Both are fine handguns. I use too pocket carry the 40, in a Desantis Nemisis Pocket Holster and still carry the 9 in a Comp Tac Minatour IWB at 4 o clock.

CW40

I traded a PM9 for a PM40 which I pocket carried for several years. I liked it so much I acquired a CW40 last fall which is the winter carry gun. Both are flawless feeding Federal 155 grain Hydra Shoks.

I shot up my last 3 boxes of Remington UMC .40s&w today just to get rid of it. Not a huge fan of UMC ammo, but it does go boom. Out of 150 rnds of it only 2 failed to feed.

I've shot 350 rounds of Freedom munitions 180 gr. FMJ remans w/o a single problem. A whole box of Hornady custom XTP 155 gr. no problem but I thought I got the best groups with the Federal 180 gr. HST's. The Hydra shoks I've tried were 135 gr. and those fed no problem and aside from the funky smell of their powder, gave good accuracy as well.

I'm seriously considering popping the 80 bux for these night sights from Kahr arms.. Kahr CW/CM Trijicon Night Sights - Style # KWTNSKT, Kahr Shop/ Sights

If you are a three dot sight fan, as I am, go for it. I have them on both my PM40 Kahrs and they are a lot more fun to shoot than the originals, for me anyway.

I originally installed a set because the paint kept coming off the factory original sights. They made such a positive difference in my shooting with the first pistol that I eventually equipped both.

I only have a cheap sight pusher. So, the bases of both front and rear got filed enough to get them nearly half way in with light pressure. After the first range session, they each got a dose of blue Loctite and have been flawless since.

I believe the post style CW front sight makes the installation process a little easier. The rear sight has enough metal to make the process straight forward.

Well worth it in my opinion.

Best of luck with yours, sir.

My EDC is a CW45 and it's been very reliable. No problems of any kind with it. Hope the 40 is just as reliable for you as my 45 is.

Nice pick-up. My most carried firearm is my PM9 but I also have a CW9. The CW lineup represents tremendous value in my opinion. Both my Kahrs have been flawless. Generally the biggest knocks on the Kahrs have to do with the long pull of the DAO trigger. Personally, I like how smooth and dare I say even predictable mine are but many who are most used to a striker fired platform just don't want to have to learn (practice) a totally different trigger.

I think you will find most of those more open minded types willing to give a Kahr a legitimate try end up really liking them.

Generally the biggest knocks on the Kahrs have to do with the long pull of the DAO trigger.

After shooting my CW40 at the range then switching to my Shield 9, the shield felt like a hair trigger compared to the Kahr. Both triggers are awesome IMO. I would say that Kahr put a lot of thought into their design and that it is a great CC choice

A wolf RP striker spring will help your trigger pull and drop your pull weight by about 1lb . Many kahr guys use them with great results I have fired a lot of the harder cci primers . I have 3 of them in my pistols with up to several thousand rounds fire rounds fired with no issues .

Only problems found with any kahr was with one buddys new cw40 . We tried to chronograph some 155gr underwood loads . It cycled so fast the stock recoil spring was over run by the slide in getting up round to be chambered . 1 out of 3 failure . We tried my longer tp40 spring with wolfs 5% XP spring and it ran in his cw9 . Faster load in a 3.5" barrel .

I added a CT45 to my carry group.

Have 4 CWs, one 9, one 40 and two 45s. My9 is carried most of the fair weather and the 45s during the cold months. The 40 is a backup to the 9. Started shooting DA revolvers in 1970 as a rookie cop. Still shoot DA Revolver today. The CWs were purchased on sale, one at a time over a three year period. The Kahrs in the CWseries shoot lead bullets and have a supersmooth trigger that duplicates a S&W action. The price makes them easy to surrender if involved in a legal action. They're also accurate and almost invisible under moderate concealed cover.

Enjoy your Kahr, feed the chamber by lowering the slide release and let the recoil spring do the work. My one Kahr 45 is ammo finicky, the other three eat all types of ammo.

A K9. Sweet , you have a fine pistol coming to you . That wider rubber grip really makes shooting comfortable along with the extra few OZ's .

Waiting for that range report .
