CZ 75B

You know what's crazy? I got it in my head I wanted a CZ75B back when CZ had a fire at their manufacturing plant. CZ75B's, in particular the matte stainless, couldn't be found. What did I do? I bought a couple mags and a set of CZ checkered wood grips. Might as well stock up on the things I'll need while waiting for supply to return.

Fast forward to today. I still have the extra mags and grip panels. What I don't have is a CZ75B Matte Stainless. Every time I hold a CZ, I fall in love. When I dry fire the trigger, I fall right out of love. I'm on the fence.
Heh heh maybe if I end up purchasing it, and am looking to dress it up a tad and get a couple more mags after a few range sessions we can work something out (as long as you end up not getting one yourself, of course)!
Thanks, as always everyone for the feedback. I will also do some research on the couple of other suggestions. Whatever I end up with I will report to the board and post pics.

CZ's are the best bang for the buck out there IMO. Accurate & reliable guns that will outperform the others in your list. Plus should you want to "improve" that trigger pull and let's say put a flat trigger on the 75 you can always send it to CZ Customs. These are great pistols you will not be disappointed.

I completely agree with the above. Plus you can get a 22lr conversion for the CZ75B. It's called the Kadet I believe.

For you guys that don't like the CZ's trigger pull you can buy a 13 lb. replacement main spring for about $5 and improve the trigger pull dramatically without affecting reliability at all. It's a simple change out.

As soon as I tried a CZ 75B, I sold all of my dozens of other handguns. The CZ 75 SAO (single action only) has an excellent trigger out of the box, and I had My Rami and a 75B converted to SAO by CZ Custom. They're the best triggers I've ever used.

not sure if the kadet is still available as just the slide, barrel, mag......know it comes as a complete pistol.
have nothing but good things to say about cz75b. the "stainless" or nickle comes with an ambi for us lefties.
also remember Jeff Cooper thought very highly of them if you remember him.
also, the 85b has ambi but not adjustable rear sight as the 85 combat does.
hard to go wrong with their products.
their .22 rimfire bolt guns are fine as well.
not trying to bankrupt you.

+1 on these comments.

My experience: Though I've rented, borrowed and shot many, I only owned one 9mm for some years; a Beretta 92FS. The trigger on that 92 was godawful and it was going to cost me $200 min to 'fix' it.

Fast forward; I'm at the range and some lady is shooting this really nice looking stainless 9mm. I ask her about it. She says here, try it out. It's a CZ 75B. Finest trigger I'd ever pulled. Period. I asked her if she had work done it, she said; nope, it's stock, and, brand new.

I traded that darn 92FS in for a 75B within a couple weeks. Never looked back. Again; Best 9mm (and not JUST 9mm) 'out of the box' trigger I've ever pulled. And I've pulled a bunch of 'em.

All that said; it's 36oz and a bit heavy for carry - though perfect if you're a 1911 fan because the controls are virtually identical minus the grip safety. So I since (after buying, trading, selling) also ended up with a Glock 19 and a Shield - which are fine as well. Depends on your purpose and whether or not you're trying to carry it concealed.

Thank you for the continued responses, all! Stuart, no plans for CCW carry, but whichever one I choose (although my desire for the CZ is growing exponentially by the response), it will become my primary house gun more than likely.

I often say they are the best brand you've never heard of. I bought my first CZ a few years ago, and now have 5 plus a higher end clone. The triggers out of the box can be a little heavy and gritty especially the DA, but they smooth out after some rounds and really respond to a little (springs) or a lot of upgrades. If someone wanted to really improve the triggers they can be absolutely amazing. Cajun Gun Works and CZ Custom both make parts if anyone really wanted to improve the triggers. Other than the obvious awesome ergos, soft shooting, trigger quality, and accuracy the other thing I like about CZ is the support. There are a number of members from CGW and CZC that post often on various forums. David from CGW even went so far as to give a detailed post with pictures on how and where to polish to smooth the trigger up.

The Omega trigger is a little simpler (cheaper to make), but unless you are looking at the Polymer P-07/P09 I would get a regular 75B. The 75 Omega basically has no parts upgrade path. The Omega's can be a little better out of the box, but the reset is really long. If nightstand duty is the plan and you might want to put a light on it check out the railed SP-01 models.

.

Think you have that backwards, CZ used to offer the 22lr Kadet as a whole gun or as a conversion kit upper ,
They now only offer the conversion kit upper .

Here is the bad news, The .22lr CZ75B Kadet (whole gun) was around $800 when they were available , The upper conversion is around $450 (comes with one mag) and the spare magazines are around $45, also they only hold only 10 rounds.... :( and the mags are cheap painted metal with plastic lower half ... :(

This is very strange considering the 9mm CZ75B (whole gun) is around $550 with 2 high quality 16 shot MecGar black chrome mags :D

In the convertible 22lr /9mm market I recently found out Sig Saur offers a complete .22lr handgun built on either their P-226 or P229 frame for around $500 (one mag) but you can purchase a 9mm , 40, 357 sig upper for around $300 that drop on the .22lr frame.

I love the CZ Kadet but Sig has them beat for price and value if the Sig Saur P226 or P229 in 22lr is as good as people claim it is.

I did a bit of research on the kadet after "samnev" mentioned it. Price is a bit much for me for a conversion kit so I will probably not be in too big a hurry to get that. Plus I have my dad's old Ruger Standard that I have a bunch of ammo to put through.

I waited about three decades++ to own a 9mm pistol. About 10 years ago I found a CZ85DB like new in the box. Used still unfired marked $300. There wasn't a mark on the pistol. I'm glad I waited and got the cz. I been thinking about a CZ75 in polished stainless next. I think there the best buy out there. The cz quality is also in the cz82 & cz 83 too.

75 D Compact. Will never let you down.

I was referring to the single action trigger in my previous post.

The DA trigger pull is smooth and not-too-heavy, I don't prefer the CZ DA pull to, say, the Glock 19, but it's totally manageable and, FWIW, I never use it anyway. Just rack the slide and it's all SA.

I totally agree as I have the LW compact also. I used to have the full size mod.75B and it was great just a bit heavy for CC.
Between my CZ Compact and my S&W 642 they are the guns I carry the most. The S&W 642 gets the most use for carry as its just so easy to slip it and the Nemisis into my pocket.
