JWH Custom offers a bolt for the Ruger 1022 that is almost TOTALLY custom,,

The bolt is custom, it uses a proprietary round firing pin, a custom charge handle,, and I do not know what else.

The BIG plus is that it is on sale,, with everything needed, including 4 carge handles, and various power springs,,
FOR $38 SHIPPED!

I have nothing to do with JWH,, except, I could not resist, I had to order the bolt.
I also ordered some buffers, I think they are cheaper than eBay,,
and I ordered a 1022 hammer,, I did not price shop that item,,

So, what do you think of that bolt?

What's it do better than the OEM bolt?

It has a round firing pin, rather than the flat pin in the Ruger.
The flat pin has ignition issues because it can hit the rim in different spots.

The handle is different also.

The bolt is machined from a solid bar, where the Ruger is a cast part.

Volquartsen sells a bolt that is virtually identical to the JWH bolt.

I wonder who was "first"??

:D

I decided to rebuild my 30 year old 10/22 not long ago and part of the project included stripping the bolt and replacing everything except the bolt itself with upgrade parts from Tactical Innovations. I am really fond of the TI skeletalized bolt handle.

As for the bolt, I don't know that cast or machined in a 10/22 makes that much difference. Being blowback operated either will have to weight in about the same, and I don't know that I've ever heard of a factory bolt wearing out. Probably the best mod you can do is add a synthetic buffer pin.

I ordered a JWH bolt, the custom handle elsewhere cost about what this bolt and 4 handles cost.

I also ordered the buffers, and a "target" hammer with the bolt.

My great shooting 1022 is a Clark 1022T.
Clark changed the barrel, rebuilt the bolt, and tweaked the trigger.
It is a nice gun, but, I did not do it!! :D

Ah, ok. I'll stick with the original.
