What's your WOW! 9mm? (Or .38 special)?

What's the one or two 9mm pistols you'd sell/trade a couple of your good guns to have?

Like selling or trading a Sig 230 and P229E2 or Walther PPQ, or Smith 459 (nah, I'm keeping the 459) for a Sig 210 or Walther P88 or ???? or ????

Same with a wheel gun in .38 special. What's the revolver you'd "sacrifice" two or three or more good guns to own?

Here's my thinking: I've got some very nice pistols and revolvers. I can't shoot them all. So what if I sold or traded a few to really upgrade my safe and have fewer, better guns to actually shoot (not just look at once in a while).

And I'm not talking carry guns....I've got a Shield, S&W 640, 6906 and Sig 320 for that. I'm thinking great range guns with some Wow factor (however you want to define that).

What would you look for?

My favorite 9mm ...

... I love my Shield 9mm for carry purposes. My favorite 9mm that I own is my old fashioned Ruger P-85. 15 rounds in the magazine and one in the pipe. 3 magazines total 46 rounds I can spit downrange. The gun just came back from Ruger for the warranty recall. Upon its return, I received an extra magazine and Ruger tested the gun for accuracy and did a little tweaking to the sights. It was accurate before, now it's super accurate. I can hit steel with it all day long from numerous angles and even while laying on the ground on my back.
Again, I love my Shield for concealed carry purposes, but if I were to be back on a battlefield, I'd want to carry my old P-85 every time. Merely my .02 cents.

I just sold several guns so I could have the funds to buy a new S&W 686. The guns I sold were a Kahr K9, Beretta 92 and a Beretta tomcat 32.

To me, a good quality revolver is like a multi tool. You can go target shooting, plinking, hunting, home defense, conceal carry, various pistol competitions. Nothing gets the juices flowing like a good shiny revolver. It covers it all whereas, a 9mm at the end of the day is still....just a 9mm..

The only gun I ever had a morbid fascination with is the Mauser C96. I wouldn't mind a good condition shooter. Nothing in like new condition just a clean gun, matching #s or not, that I can take to the range.
As far as trade...I have no idea. I have multiples of a few guns that I can trade and still have that gun.

I had a Colt Officers Model Match in 38special 2nd Issue. 6" (mfg in 1913) at one time and sold it at a time of need.
Wish I had that one back.
Just a beautifully made revolver,
Fit , finish and action were right at the top of Colt's quality. One of the last production using the old Charcoal Blue.

9mm??,,
A Bergmann-Bayard 1910/21 has always interested me,,or one of the variants.
9mmLargo, not Parabellum, Just something odd, intricate and old that catches my attention and one I've never owned.

..plus any other Luger that wants to join the current bunch,,just like them.

Nothing in the new plastic crowd interests me.

I did in fact trade away two well loved guns from my collection to get what I consider to be the ultimate current production 9mm handgun: the Sig P226 Legion. About a month ago, I traded my S&W 617 and CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical for a NIB 226 Legion SAO. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting, as I am a habitual user of DA/SA pistols, so I ended up trading again over to the 226 Legion DA/SA, and it is absolute perfection in my opinion. This will be the fifth and final (probably not) 226 I’ve bought this year, and by far the best performing, most comfortable, and natural feeling handgun I have ever owned. Was it worth the asking price? I certainly think so...

I posted in another thread - I just got a FN Hi Power, and I'm very impressed with the ergos and design. If I were to write a list of requirements and dimensions for my "perfect" semi auto pistol, the list would closely match the BHP. My one complaint is the safety, which I think should be bigger like a 1911 safety.

For a .38, I think it's very hard to improve much on the classic M10/M64, and right now 4" police trade-ins can be gotten for ~$300 if you shop (link 1, Link 2 Killer deal tomorrow on M64). Most of these are round butt and have the heavy barrel, and they are everything you could ask for in a .38 revolver.

I'm a big HP fan, but I agree on the safety. I don't really need it bigger, but I would prefer a more positive "snap" when it goes on and off. Otherwise, nothing fits my hand better, especially with thin grips.

I have a 6906 I bought way back when that I have vacillated about getting rid of. I carried it for a while but realy do not like the two different trigger pulls. Give me a good DA Revolver or better yet a 1911 and I feel much more comfortable. I do carry a XDs.45 at times and have no problem with that gun either

The 6906 has a lot of time as a safe item (I will not use queen in describing that gun.) One of these days its going and as I live in the peoples republic of NY I have 2 legal 10 round magazines for it. As of now the 6906 is just hogging safe space but it will go in a overdue house cleaning one of these days!

Plenty of other good guns out there that I could get interested in, probably will be a Revolver!:D

Browning Hi Power has always been one of my "must have" handguns. Brought one home from Vietnam, then it was stolen some years later, then I replaced it with one a bit more modern (Mk III with larger ambi-safety and high-profile sights, making it much more useful for my purposes). Anytime I feel the need for a 14-round 9mm pistol the Browning is always ready to meet that need.

Due to sites like Armslist, my toy collection is in a constant state of fluctuation, and I don't seem to latch on to lifetime "keepers" like i did years ago. I've let huge favorites of mine go down the road, more times than I can recall. (they're all just "toys", that someone else will own someday ;)).
That being said, I'm pretty happy with my fairly humble collection, and barring some ridiculously good and financially one-sided trade miraculously appearing, I don't think I'd trade two of anything I have, for a single gun.
Sure, there are grail guns I'd love to have (minty old 686, BHP, etc.) but I wouldn't trade (for example) one of my Model 10's and Glocks to get one.

Finally started shooting the Luger my Dad gave me years ago. Other than that, never owned a 9mm. Always liked the look of the CZ 75’s so I bought one and enjoy shooting it.

Like to shoot a bunch of.38 revolvers both pre-war and post war. The Colt Officer model Match always intrigued me, maybe some day. Larry

I would trade to get a Nighthawk Custom Browning High Power, but don't know WHAT I'd trade in addition to my Gen 4 Glock 23.

I've got a MkIII as well, and it is without question, my favorite handgun.

I have a beautiful Browning Hi-Power that's largely a safe queen. Shoot it maybe once or twice a year.

I've considered trading it for something more practical, but I just can't. It's just too nice of a pistol. I may just have to buy another one.

Don't ever trade or sell a browning high power. You WILL regret it!

Ditto on the Browning MkIII ....... fixed the safety and sight issues I had with earlier models..........have two; a matt and a bright blue 98% gun I found used for $350!!! I don't carry cocked and locked so the matt gun is a range gun and the blue a nice safe queen!

As to the OP's original Question...... I spent the 80s and much of the 90s working through that process........ I've been good to go for much of the past 17 years....... picked up a few backups and backups to the backups when the prices were right!!!!!

I am buying a Wilson Combat Beretta 92 Centurion........ may trade two old SB compacts!

I could use a 3914NL to round out my accumulation..... of 3913, 3913NLs and 3914s. A 3913NL with Hogue Checkered wood grips and factory flush fit 7rd mag. is my EDC........ the 3913 an early gun has a 5906 hammer and Hogue wood grips..........looks like a "shrunken" Model 39
