We have an S&W 380EZ and love it. Saw the Ruger online for a one day price deal (really good price). The gun, shipping, taxes, ffl fees are less than any retail price (before tax) found in my neck of the woods. Reviews were pretty good so I can't wait to give the Ruger a go. Anyone here already have experience with the Ruger Security 380?

I never heard of one, I went to Rugar's site to see one. All the size and weight of a 9mm Compact, and really big for a pocket 380! 10 or 15 rounds, you should never need to reload it!

i'v had a security .380 for a couple months now.with 95 gr. it shoots poa/poi. i like it a lot; but it doesn't suit me any, more so i'm selling it. good luck with your's ,they are great really. i saw the sale also, that's a steal !!

Looking at the Ruger web-site This looks like a .380 version of the MAX-9 except for some cosmetics. It is bigger and 6 ounces heavier than the LCP MAX with the only advantage being the optional 15 round capacity compared to 12. Where is the benefit!

I will give Ruger one thing though, they sure hit a home run on ugly!

The purpose of the Security 380 is not so much for micro carry but easy to rack defensive pistol for those with infirmities.

I notice on the Ruger website that the Security 380 with the unrestricted mags is shown as "limited availability". I wonder if there is a shortage of mags.

I can see everyone's point. A larger gun is easier to shoot, but doesn't conceal as well. So why not go with the largest caliber that can fit in a particular sized gun. On the other hand, a gun that is easier to shoot, work the slide, and with less recoil works best for a lot of people.
I look at my Ruger LCP .380 and think that is th optimum size for that caliber. But then I take my CZ 83 in .380 out to shoot and man, does that pistol feel so perfect in the hand, and shoots great too. I guess it is a matter of use what works best for you, critics be damned. Ain't it great we have so many choices?
