6906 slide reassembly

I don't remember having this trouble before, when putting the slide back on, I push down the ejector and the two things sticking out on the right side of the hammer, looks like a firing pin lever and something else?
Anyway, the two things sticking up I cannot push them flat to get the slide back on, they go down but not all the way into the frame.
What's the problem? Something simple like the safety has to be on/off or the hammer has to be cocked?
Or do I have to use a tool to get them down?
I have had it off an half dozen times and don't remember ever having to smooth them down with anything other than my finger.

Try cocking the hammer. If I understand what you are talking about, I had the same problem, and once the hammer was fully cocked I could drop both little arms.

Appreciate it, I figured it was something simple like that. I fought that thing for half an hour trying to get those things pushed down.

Yes bringing the hammer back should allow you to push those things down so you can seat the slide. Sometimes I forget and have the same problem.

I must have a defective gun. I tried cocking the hammer and it makes it worse. The ejector will push down, the other two things won't go down at all with it cocked.
If its not cocked, the slide will go on until it hits those two bars, and they can be pushed down, but since the hammer is not cocked there is no room to push them down. I can't get my finger in there.
I have to put the slide on as far as it will go, almost to the hammer, then use a screwdriver in the 1/4 inch between hammer and slide to push down the last lever.
It's ridiculous.
You watch the UTUBE video and the guy just pushes down all three things sticking up, and the slide goes on. all one motion.
Not mine.
I am fighting those damn things( WHAT ARE THEY CALLED??) the whole way!

Well it goes on, I found the easiest way is hammer not cocked( it has to be not cocked BTW, if you push down on the middle lever it uncocks anyway)

So,Hammer uncocked, left hand pushing down ejector, right hand pushing down with a ballpoint pin on the two right levers and working slide rearward at the same time.
PITA!
Whoever designed that system should be shot.

On a S&W 3rd generation the hammer should be forward to get the levers down properly to get the slide on. I've got 24 of these 3rd gen guys. It gets real easy after the first dozen.

Thats kinda funny.....I was cleaning my 3913 just the other day and had the same issue. Now I havent fired my 3913 in about 4 years and I kinda forgot about those little things. I ended up doing what you did after a few cuss words and a half hour. LOL!!

But i am gonna keep takin the 3913 out to the range as it will become my CCW again. I love this pistol.

Not to jack the thread, but was wondering if you have a 4513 and what is your opinion on it. I am lookin for one and it seems to be the same as 3913 but in .45? thanks

Actually, my brother found one ANIB at a local gun store in Bakersfield, CA a few months ago for me. But they wanted too much . . . well at least more than I wanted to pay. It finally sold . . . at least when he went back in after a couple of months and it was gone. It apparently took quite awhile to sell.

I really like the 4516-1 and -2 (I have one of each), but the 4513 was a little light. But would be good for CCW stuff.

on my 6906 i put the slide on about 3/4 way and push the longest pin down first. slide it over it and then press the other 2 down. make sure nothing is binding them up

Thanks! Got tired of calling it that little thingy.
Anyway it must be the sear release lever that is my issue. It's the one closet to the hammer.
The ejector goes down no problem, the Safety lever no problem,
but that sear release I cannot push down unless I have a small pen or something to push it down. And it won't go down with the hammer cocked.

3 things to push down at the same time as pushing the slide.
Are you kidding me? Stupid design. Can you imagine doing this under stress?

Where are you located in Florida? I would suggest that you have a minor internal burr or other very minor problem and since I am a triple graduate of the S&W Academy autoloader armorer's school and located in central Florida, maybe I could look it over for you.
