What Went Wrong? Obama & Co. are sinking

Obama came in promising everything to everybody. Whatever one wanted to see in him, they saw.
Governing is different from campaigning. In governing you have to make choices and not everyone will be happy with those choices.
Obama is especially talented however in making no one happy with his choices, constantly attempting to split the difference. Conservatives hate him for obvious reasons. Liberals hate him for backtracking on his promises to them and then lying about it. He never had a constituency as his support came from not being George Bush.

His poll ratings are well below 50% in most polls I've seen. People seem to like him, they just don't like what he is doing. Problem is, he and the Dems can do a whole lot of damage to our economy, our guns and our personal freedoms before the next election.

Many of these programs will be tough if not impossible to undo once done.

I wish people would stop harping on guns. When Harry Reid co sponsors pro gun legislation, they aren't getting any gun control through.
But look at the implosion of the Dems over health care. The Dems have taken power by widening their base to include moderates like Jim Webb (whatever else you want to say about him).
Unfortunately the very thing that got them into power will make it impossible to build enough consensus to get any programs through. When the White House is running attack ads against its own Democratic congressmen in their districts for failing to support health care then the party is pretty well in disarray.
All the GOP needs to do is field decent candidates for 2010 and they will foil the Dems majorities. Of course their record on this is terrible as the GOP could screw up a one car parade.

People want results. There have been none. Simple as that. Some Americans, about 52% of us, are easily distracted and easily impressed with beautiful words. But now that the words have faded, many simply want to see some results.

The thing that keeps smacking me in the face is how many folks think any of this has to do with Obama... Does anyone think he wrote one single word of the 1000 page Public Health Care Plan? Do you think he actually wrote the budget? you really think HE picked Sotomayor? Don't you think there is a much greater chance that all of this was sitting and waiting for him to become it's poster boy?

Obama is as much a puppet as GHWB was. Someone else created all of this. I'd have to guess the US Senate is far more at fault for where we are than any President...

Change? Yeah, he gave us Change alright. He changed our fears from fear an outright Holy War with the Muslim world to the fear that our economy would not last through the month. Well Mr. President, what would you have us fear next??? Bird Flu? Pig Flu? Rabies? What next???

Pay no attention to the Man behind that curtain. Just listen to the National News, and WE will tell you what you need to believe...

Ah, just a temporary reprieve, trust me. Just because they have bigger pokers in the fire now... don't think for a moment they won't revisit our gun rights down the road.

WAy down the road.
Gun control is a loser of an issue for the Dems. That's why you havent heard anything about it for the last 2+ years. If they wanted gun control they would have passed it while W was still president. They can't, and know that.
A few changes in demographics, maybe. But the number of guns sold after Obama was elected indicates that gun control has shrinking support in this country.

When AG Holder whined that the Assault Weapon Ban might need to be re-implemented to help Mexico solve its drug problems, it was a test balloon. Surprise...the next day, 65 Dems in the House told him to forget it, and both Reid and Pelosi said they would not support it. Barring any ugly incidents, I doubt we will see any gun control efforts before 2012. If, God forbid, he is elected to a second term, that's a different story.

You guys are dreaming. I predict we will see a move BEFORE the 2010 election. They know they will lose their coveted majority in Congress and will try while they still can.

Mark my words.

Bassamatic just may be right...but I hope he's not.

These criminals have absolutely no shame. They would "try" anything.

Obama and Holder may well try, but I don't think The One could handle the humiliation of a loss from lack of support of his own party which is already known to exist. With Dems already running scared of "we the people", I just don't see it.

I am much more worried about what will happen if Obama gets reelected. That is when the liberals will really push him to do things to take out freedoms.

As opposed to today? Look at the push back he got when he floated the idea of dropping the gov't option. No, the left is pushing hard on this president. They just dont have the votes to do anything.

I think Greg is right. They are going to avoid the issue because they might get hurt in the elections. When he is a lame duck, is when they will try the gun issue. That is, unless some heinous gun crime makes big news before then, and they get pushed by the antis.

It seems he promised to help "everyone" live life on a gold platter, only to find out that it was only gold plated. He made his agenda a set of promises, promises that he has no authority to give on his own. Now he has to play well with others, but those helping him want their own peice of the pie, which just dillutes his promises down to nothing. At least that is what I'm seeing.

He promised more than he can deliver and the people who elected him are finding that out now.
Hopefully Conservatives will gain ground in the midterm elections and the Presidency in 2012.

It won't be the guns, it is ammo. I was talking to a FFL/gun dealer Monday night. They are looking at logging all ammo purchases to track buyers, calibers, amount, etc. He said it was in the talking stages at this time. It may or may not happen. Who knows. Guns aren't much good without something to feed them.

Ah geez, not this s*** again.
Total hooey.

Well, Rabbi, I am happy to know that you are all knowing. It sets my troubled spirit to rest.
All I did was relay a snippet of a conversation with a dealer. If it offends you, keep it to yourself.

This very thing keeps rearing its ugly head in Kommiefornia. Its latest incarnation is AB962 by DeLeon. These ammo restrictions have not passed here, but they keep trying...

They even changed the name from something like "Ammo accountability and control act" to something like "Safe neighborhood anti terrorism act" Those are not the real names, but just my feeble recollection of them...
