Photos are up, gents.

Mattz -- the pistol grip is a single screw attachment, just like a standard AR. I used a long-handled Allen wrench to take it out. Be careful not to lose the star lock washer. Grips like the Ergo and the Magpul MOE won't fit too well since the high backstrap on those grips does not fit flush with the rifle (as it does on a standard AR). It may not look the best, but it would work. A better look and fit is something like the Hogue or Tango Down AR pistol grips, since they have no raised backstrap.

i made a spanner wrench to get the barrel off and then i threaded it in the lathe.... now i can screw goodies on the end....
i like it a lot.

its VERY VERY nice with a can.

Deerslayer, what do the covers for the handguards do? They look like another layer of rails, but I'm not sure I'm seeing them correctly. Mcinfantry, we need to see that setup!

The rail covers cover up the sharp edges on the rails. Covers are a lot easier on the hand and provide an improved grip...at least for some people.

The plastic rail on my 15-22 wasn't nearly as sharp as some of the metal rails I handled/gripped while shooting. You might not NEED the rail covers on a 15-22 but, they do add a more finished look.

For those who need pics...here's mine...

DSMC, what brand are those? Any idea if they come in black? Your stock looks like the one deerslayer used, what is different/better about it? I like the two-tone theme you've got going on there!

The rail covers are Magpul XTM's. They do come in black.

It looks like Deerslayer installed a Magpul CTR stock. Mine is the lower cost MOE stock. They are the same stocks...except that the CTR has an additional locking lever that the MOE stock does not have. Basically, the CTR has no movement at all while the MOE has a bit of movement. Not as much as a M4 style stock but, there's some movement.

I went with the FDE because I haven't used it on any of my AR's...since I don't live in a desert. They're all either black or Foliage Green. It makes it a lot easier to pick the 15-22 out from a pack of similar looking rifles...

I didn't cut the covers. They come in packs of 4 and 12. The 4 pack has 8 pieces...one upper and lower per each section. They snap together over the rail.

The 4 pack will cover one side of a carbine rail, while six sections per side is required for the 15-22's rail.

Nice rig DMSC! My pistol grip and ladder rail covers are now OD Green. I'll be swapping out my black CTR buttstock for an OD Green as well. I think two-tone is a nice look. My Stag AR is fully loaded and all black, so I figured I'd give this one more of a custom look. I like your short Tango Down vertical grip. I've been on the fence as to whether I should add one or not. Yours looks so good I think I will now!

Gents, I also added a Midwest Industries (MI) snap-in sling mount to the rear of my left side rail. That way I can transfer my 2-point sling from my Stag AR to this rifle. I attach to the MI mount and the Magpul CTR mount via the push-button sling attachments. Easy on, easy off.

I would never have guessed that wasn't all one piece. A quick zoom reveals seams, but they do look tight. Thanks for the info.

I purchased my M&P 15-22 on Aug. 21st. Ran several hundred various rounds thru it. Had an out of battery round with a Federal 810. Took out my extractor, spring and another small part. :( Returned firearm to store 8-28. They contacted S&W CS for parts. Hope S&W has spare parts available. Will update when rifle repaired.

Received a call from my local gun shop...finally got mine in late yesterday afternoon after a 5 week waits! I'll give summary review on Thursday after my Wednesday night range outing.

If it is anything like my M&P15 VTAC...I'll love it!

I finally nailed one down today. Paid $400.00 plus tax and title, dumped a cheap BSA reflex red dot on it for the moment, cleaned, lubed and off to the range tomorrow!

Guys has anyone recevied their magazines orded from Smith & Wesson? I ordered my off their web site two weeks ago and nothing yet.

Poster on another forum said he got a shipping tracking number from S&W on his ordered magazines. I'ma waiting on mine also. :o

Here is another question for you guys that have a new AR15-22 how in the world are you cleaning that tiny feed ramp? I ran a bunch of ammo through mine the other day and I have yet to successfully clean the feed ramp. I guess as a bigger question I need some help with the whole cleaning process I cleaned and cleaned but things still felt gritty when I was done.

Thanks
