M&P 15-22 Results, Post 'em here. I got Mine!!

Just got in from the back yard.

Shot Federal Lightning first without a hiccup. Worked great and was extremely accurate.

Next up was CCI Mini Mags. Had 90% FTE, I don't think I will ever buy CCI's again(first time user).

Put in some Federal Auto Match(kind of like the lightning) with only a couple FTE's.

I put some Winchester bulk rounds and had a few more FTE's.

Overall the Mini Mags were the worst(which I never would have thought).

I am just wondering what the easiest way to bend the ejector?

Should I take the bolt out, etc. Or just reach up through the magazine hole and bend it that way?

Thanks

Skeet,
Mini-Mag should run great in your gun. Are the FTE's you are experiencing trapped cases? (empty case doesn't clear ejection port and bolt traps the empty case) If so, your ejector probably needs adjustment.

Ejection pattern is 22 autoloaders can vary with the ammo. Some of it may be dependant on bolt speed. Mini-mag while achieving the same muzzle velocity as other HV brands for some reason generates more bolt speed (and thus perceived recoil).

To tweak the ejector, clear the rifle and lay it upside down across your lap. Look down through the mag well and see the ejector. Use one hand on the charging handle to partially retract the bolt. Bring the bolt back just far enough to clear the end of the ejector.

Then with your other hand, reach in with a suitable implement (screw driver of sufficient length). Put the blade between the side of the ejector and the bolt guide. Gently twist the blade of the screw driver to push the ejector towards the centerline of the rifle.

Ideally you want the tip of the ejector as close as possible to the stripper rail on the bottom of the bolt. Remember that metal has some spring back so you may have to gently deflect the ejector past where you want it to account for this.

If you go too far and the bolt hits the ejector, you can always bend the ejector back a little. Just be careful as you do it and you should come out fine.

Sorry I don't have pictures. I hope my description is enough to help you.

Take the upper off completely, and use a pair of needle nose pliers. Just move it a little at a time. Dont try to do one giant bend.

My gun shop called me tonight and said my 15-22 was in. Guess I will go pick it up tomorrow. I hope it is a shooter right out of the box, in other words no malfunctions.

I absolutely love this gun! I just wish I could load faster :) Another 300+ rounds downrange today, with Federal Game Shok Ammo. Four new mags, 100% reliability.

You have waited a LONG time...... More patient than I would have been.(Mr. Golden would have been contacted after about 3-4 days if it were my gun) S&W should be sending you a spare, after waiting a month! lol. Hope all works out!

yeah, i couldnt agree more with ya, and the Manager at Academy told me they would send it to S&W Via express, then he told me his assistant accidently printed out a UPS ground label, and he didnt check it before he mailed....So that took a week....Then s&w told me they would sent it next day...then they sent it ground..aggravating.

Well, no gun today, i just tracked it this morning, didnt get to Texas until 1:13am, and it now shows Tomorrow.

OK, picked up mine today. Went to the range and put a couple hundred rounds down range, and it was flawless and very accurate too. I am happy.

Sweet!

Stopped by a new shop today and in the bottom of one of the cases was a brand new M&P15-22. $450 out the door. I didn't bother to shop around. Bought a 100 round box of CCI Mini-Mag 40 grain soft points.

Loaded the mag 4 times and pulled the trigger 100 times. All 100 went down range and all 100 fed and ejected fine. Need to dig out some other 22 ammo I've got around here some where.

Wish my eyes were better. Open sights at 100 yards is tough on 54 year old eyes. But the rifle appears to be capable of good accuracy. Will install a scope and shoot some from a rest.

great!!! congrads, glad to see more people having good luck out of the box.

Yes that's my problem, the empty casing doesn't always clear the bolt and hence it will dry fire unless I notice that I don't here the casing's hitting the ground.

Your description was written perfectly and I thank you for that.

I have to work all day tomorrow so I will attempt it on Thursday!

With your description and AllGlocks picture I'm sure this will be a piece of cake.

I was really surprised that CCI Mini Mags performed the worst though.

Will check back in Thursday!

CCI Stingers were the worst for me, before I performed the ejector operation. Now its 100% reliable.
