Scoped carry handle on a 15-22

Anyone have a scoped carry handle on their 15-22? I like the look with the carry handle and would also like to add a scope. I was wondering if anyone had done this yet and if they had any pictures. Even any pics of .223s with this set up would be nice.

i have one on my .223 and there are three things i don't like.

1. it puts the scope too high off the barrel, tough to get a good cheek weld.
2. accuracy is better when the scope is mounted closer to the bore.
3. it makes the darn gun awfully tall. sort of a pain to store in the gunsafe, takes up a lot of room.

having said that, for a .22 the accuracy issue shouldn't be much because you won't be shooting wide variations in distance. if you get a carry handle, make sure the riser you buy has a sight hole built in so you can use the irons. most carry handle risers come that way but some are solid.

i haven't changed my setup yet because i use the irons on my .223 predominately. i only use my red dot for close range plinking at mulitple targets. once i'm done setting up my 15-22 i'm going to drastically change my .223.

Looks just like it does on any other AR15/M16 type rifle:

Without a raised cheek rest this type mount is not very desireable.

One advantage is that it's possible to mount a red dot on the rail to co-witness with the iron sights. Makes a rifle pretty versatile having a powered scope, fixed sights and red dot all good to go.

very true but there has been a lot of talk of cowitnessing the irons with the red dot optic. what's the point of the optic then? you are stuck looking through the rear sight aperature if you do that. the only advantage i see is with flip up sights which you can't have with a carry handle. using a carry handle and integrated rear sight, the main advantage of the optic (both eyes open easy target acquistion) is lost in the aperature.

does that make sense?

You're not losing much with the rear sight aperture. In fact, I can look right through the rear large aperture and barely notice it's even there. See the below picture. I look through the rear sight aperture and can see inside 360 degrees of the 30mm tube just inches away. Both eyes open... no problemo.
Try it.

Now.... add a carry handle and a powered optic with a see-thru mount and you haven't disturbed anything.

Except the carry handle sight is NOT the same height as the M&P rear sight and may not be the same height as the flip dingus on the rifle shown above.

There's sight interference with the handle, Colt telescope, and my forward mounted Tasco so mounting all three won't work very well. The zero is so far off I'm not playing with all three this weekend, but I did try it.

The M&P 15-22 rear sight doesn't interfere at all with the Tasco red dot, so folding sights are a needless complication. Try moving it forward and see if your target transition improves. Mine did.

I wouldn't use a long tube red dot with riser either. A holosight fits the bill. The attached pic mounts easy and works well.

Thanks. The mag is a Magpul MagLevel PMAG (trying saying that three times fast) with a Magpul Ranger Plate.

I already have the carry handle and it is the same exact height as the stock site. Don't ask me what brand it is i have no idea, purchased locally and got rid of packaging.
