New M&P Parts available soon from Apex

What about Strikers for the M&P 9mm?
They are breaking on lots of people, S&W, Midway, Brownells are all sold out, lots of them still out there to break, S&W does not make the part, contracted out....
Once I find a new striker, I'll have to try this part on my M&P

We're aware of the breakages and working on the design for a striker as well.

Hey guys, just thought I'd drop in and keep you all up to date.

The initial batch of sears shipped yesterday, they should be in customer hands by starting tomorrow.

I have installed mine in MP 40. The trigger pull is 4 pounds and 3 ounces. The trigger reset is as advertised. This is a great product, worth every penny. I also got one for my MP 45 which will be installed in a few minutes. I thought I would give you guys the word before I did the 45. Great Job Randy!! O.K. I got the 45 done pull weight is 4 pounds and 5 ounces.

That is the video that should have been done long time ago. I think most will be surprised how easy the MP series pistols are to work on. I much prefer them to doing a revolver.....Good job!

Thanks and I am glad you like our sear! We had hoped the results would be favorable, but we didn't really know until more of the sears were installed in other guns.

We tried to keep with the "truth in advertising" motto :-)

Good work, thanks for the video.

May the New Year be a prosperous one(for us all!)

Is this recomended for a carry gun or is it along the lines of a Glock 3.5 trigger.

There are many 1911 pistols on the market with a factory trigger pull 3.5 to 4.5 pounds, Kimber comes to mind right off hand. The rule of trigger out of the trigger guard until ready to fire always applies regardless of pull weight. It also depends on what you are comfortable with. For example many folks want a thumb safety on a M&P pistol, where as I on the other hand prefer not to have it. Its just your personal call...

56belair,

I do recommend the Apex Hard Sear for carry applications.

In my personal opinion, I see it along the same lines as any single action trigger pull, be it on a DA/SA gun or a SAO. The SA trigger pull on your average carry gun is going to be in the 4 to 4.5 lb range.

Provided the shooter is properly trained and practiced and keeps their finger off the trigger and out of the trigger guard until they're ready to fire, a 4 to 4.5 lb trigger pull on a striker fired system like an M&P pistol should not be unsafe by any means. With the length of trigger uptake and built in safety systems of the M&P pistol it would be very difficult for a user to negligently discharge a round with a 4 to 4.5 lb trigger pull.

That being said, at a minimum weight of 4lbs, the trigger has enough resistance to provide the shooter with a tactile feeling for the sear break off so they're not likely to blow through the uptake and fire a round unintentionally.

Man, I keep seeing all these trick parts for S&W from the likes of Randy and some others, but how/when are we gonna see some of them down here in OZ? I know there's difficulties with the G, but you know, we shoot too........

FWIW,
W/coast to W/coast 3 1/2 day turn around for a from parts in stock order.
(The part is beautifully produced Randy!)

Thank you! We are lucky to have very good QC people and Lisa worked feverishly to get all the sears out on Monday.

Glad you are enjoying the sear.

I'll break ranks here.
I would not consider a 4# trigger on a M&P that: a) didn't have the manual safety and/or b) was not primarily dedicated to range work. A 4# trigger on a otherwise safety less fighting gun is an unnecessary risk (To put it in perspective, would you carry a revolver cocked in single action mode?). That LIGHT trigger pull is the only thing between you and a potentially life altering accidental discharge. IMHO, a (reasonably crisp) 6.5# trigger on a fighting gun works fine if you learn how to use it. Both my ("no safety") M&P's are at this point and I'm not going to mess with them further (as tempting as this mod is.) Now if I were to get a 5" version with manual safety that was going to be a plate gun.......;-)

Ah yes!
But if one were to begin experimentation with Mass. compliant springs, while using the improved sear, pull "weight" could be returned to "stock", while still having improved re-set distance, no?

I'm assuming you mean by Mass. compliant springs as heavy spring heavy pull trigger. I know little about Mass.

Using a Mass compliant trs would up the pull weight and trigger reset snappiness. I do not have a MA spring, but I would venture to guess the pull would increase to 5.5-6 lbs. with the shorter overtravel and reset.

We have been getting a lot of interest in making a MA compliant-ish trs.

In 2010, we will have a competition drop in action enhancing kit, and one for Duty/Carry. Both will include our sear and new polished FPB plunger. The competition kit will also include a reduced power plunger spring while the Duty/Carry will include the heavy duty TRS.
