Just couldn't stand it no longer...(My Ol' 3rd Model HE)

And you know, that picture looks just like you the last time I saw you. The only thing different is that's a nice looking stump backin' you up. I think a gun show would be decorated nicely if it had one of those across the aisle from our table! :)

hi dave,

god love ya !! don't change a thing on that fine old piece of history, you and that old smith look great together ! i'm sure Elmer is smiling down on you two.. keep livin' the dream !!

regards,
mick

Great post Dave, you've inspired me to brave the Oregon weather and go out and find my own stump (we have millions up here) to shoot at tommorow.Raingear here I come. Art

Yeah, reminds me of Skeeter too, if its not broken don't fix it. I was an adjustable sight guy until I learned to shoot a 1917, darned things worked. Now most of the time how I find them is how I leave them. Great workmanship in those old ones.

Engraver? Please don't........

Anyway, I have always been a fan of fixed sight revolvers. Pretty much all of my dozen or so fixed sight S&W's shoot so well I hardly shoot my adjustable sight stuff anymore. I like the look, sight picture and handling of the fixed sight revolvers better.

Boys,

If'n I were to leave the ol' gal as is...I really need to find a pair of vintage Ivory pre-war service style stocks.

Dick...Dan...Lee?

Any of you fellers gonna help this poor old cowboy out of a jam?

Su Amigo,
Dave

I knew there must've been a good reason why you withdrew your 'WTB' ad so quickly in the classifieds a while back. That looks like about as good a reason as any I can think of. :D

I was actually pondering offering you my factory original nickeled four-incher in the 33000 serial range. Glad you spared me from making that decision....

As for ivory service stocks vs. incorrect pre-war magnas, I can tell you I much prefer shooting mine with pre-war magnas over stag service style stocks - by at least a 10 to 1 margin. 'Specially with Skeeter's favorite .44 load. ;)

Congrats Dave, and enjoy.

Mark

Dave,

I dont have an extra set of service ivories but I do have these :D:D:D

Beautiful gun.
Real nice pics. Thanks for sharing!
...makes me wanna' go shootin'.

Dang.....now I think I should trade in my 3-year old "Classic" Mdl 21 for something a lot older......

Hi, Dave:
I agree that you should leave the .44 "As Is".
You and the .44 are more of a match than that nickeled plated 3" Model 36.
Jimmy

Yeah Jimmy,

That ol' 3rd Model looks more like me I guess...

That little nickle J frame is kind small for my big ol' paw anyways.
So, it's N frames from here on out.

When I get ahold of them there Ivories and a fancy carved shuck and belt to hang 'er from...
I'll be good to go fur another decade or two. ~Smiley~

Dave
