UPDATE: Robbery victim fights back and fatally shoots robber in Ingles parking lot

Chalk one up for the good guys, this happened about a half mile from my office. Here in our little suberb we have had a rash of crime in the last month.

A customer got fatally shot returning a game to a local Game Stop. The same weekend two rivial gangs had a shootout at a house party, numberous robberies, a deputy put three slugs into a perp a couple of nights ago and this happened last night.

At least here it's getting where you can't go anywhere without a pistol! This same little community lost a deputy earlier this year in the line of duty.

I know we are not unique with this problems, they just seem to be getting closer to home.

Shorty, Rockdale Co has changed so much over the past 10 years. A sleepy outskirts of Atlanta in the 90's has changed to being in the "thick" of things.

It may be as bad in other cities I don't know, but it seems as Atlanta sprawls out into other comunities crime comes with it. I whitnessed a couple of guys shoplifting in Gainesville on saturday. An older security guard confronted the two young punks and they ran out the exit and out of site. The old guy tried to catch them. I stayed out of the way, but stayed close to the guard. I was afraid they would turn on him.

We had three burglars shot in a massive victim selection failure in souther Durham County last week. They picked an occupied dwelling with an armed homeowner. The homeowner wounded all three. One was arrested at the scene and the other two when they went to the hospital for treatment.

You are right about that Sheriff, this isn't any reflection of LE. Sheriff Wigington and Chief Wilson are doing their jobs quite well, but as we all know they can't be everywhere.

Moving isn't an option presently with houses going for .50 on the dollar.

Yep, I know that's exactly what he would tell me. I had lunch with him last week. Especially since he is seeking another term in 2 years...that's good news!!
