I found this nice little 32 the other day on GB. I think I got a good deal. Hopefully I have loose rounds that belong in the box. Its such a nice box. I wish the 32 DA was an antique, but for 180 plus 10 transfer, who cares?

I spent all of my Xmas money on guns and got a gun from my wife for Xmas. It was a great holiday season! I did give to many people too, because it is more about giving.

Gun Broker Last Weekend

Nice Christmas Present there and a good catch.

Last weekend was intersting on BG. Everyone was busy doing the Christmas thing and there was not the usual frenzy of shark feeding for bidding in most cases. I made a couple of good catches. A couple are not S&Ws but... interesting in my humble opinion.

I'm not about to pay $600+ for a $300, gun even if it's an antique. Unless I can verify it's something exceptional. In which case it would be worth going for.

$199.00 These were being made and imported for sale. Someone must have been a Le Mat fan but no shotgun chamber in the cylinder and not black powder. No doubt more than one immigrant carried a little something in his baggage for the trip out West.

A S&W Baby Russian. $256.00 Should clean up nice.

Not a S&W but most of us know the history. An Iver-Johnson in .32 cal.

So that was my weekend on Gun Broker. All the money orders have been sent and now the waiting starts.

I've got something to keep me busy though. I had 1877 Colt Thunderer delivered on Friday. I've started cleaning her up. I've disassembled several old Colts in the past. This weekend I'm going to take her down and give her some close attention. They are a notorious for being rather difficult to find parts for so it's going to be real slow and carefull like.

Also my S&W No. 1, 2nd Model (1865) showed up and she's getting cleaned up as well. This one I'm only going so far with. She's too small to get too far into on a take down.

I bought these two from a dealer in Virginia. Great price.

One thing, your S&W 38 Single Action is not a "Baby Russian" (1st Model) but is a 2nd Model. The Baby Russion has the older "rack and pinion" extractor and can be identified by the long extractor housing under the barrel.

I bought this last week from Mr. Flayderman (a Christmas gift from me to me!! ). It was in his personal collection for 50 years. A Number 2 Army inscribed to an officer twice wounded in the Civil War.

Since Mr. F's shop is only about a half hour from where I live I picked it up directly from him. I feel that it was as much a treat to sit and talk to him for a half hour as it was to purchase such a nice firearm.

And here's one with some Smith & Wesson association. A Moore "7 Shooter", inscribed to an officer who served forty years (from 1862-1902). He fought on Little Round Top at Gettysburg, was wounded in the face at Petersburg, chased and fought against Sitting Bull after the Custer Massacre, and lots more!

For those of you who don't know the Moore 7 Shooter was an infringement on the S&W patent, and after S&W won the lawsuit later Moores' will be found marked "Made For Smith & Wesson" (since this is an earlier example it is not marked with the S&W name).

Just got a 20 inch Model 320 Revolving Rifle into my shop Tuesday. Never saw one before and had to make a bunch of phone calls to figure out just what we had, and finally did thanks to fellow members here. The case and accessories seem to be all there....amazing. We will be placing it on the classifieds as soon as I relearn how to post photos. Should be there sometime next week. Cool piece. Really feels good to know there are still items like this out there just waiting to be found.

I love that "one thing"... comment. Then whack..... Of course I did some real quick research and yep.

I have also noticed several other Gun Broker sales that are doing the same thing... listing 2nd Models as Baby Russians.

The "Baby Russian" nickname is applied only to the 1st Model SA due to it having an extraction system similar to the Russian model .44's. is correct. I'll bring that to the attention of the seller. Since it was put in the mail today. Guess I'll just keep her any way. The price was still a good deal.
