Remora no-clip IWB holster – value!

Update: Wore my Bodyguard .380 in the RFT Remora (in my pants pocket) tonight for the first time. The holster smoothed out the lines of the pistol and was much more comfortable than expected. Very good purchase! More later after an in-waistband carry!

Just browsing the net an found this thread. I went ahead and ordered a Rft model 8c for my j frames. I just hope it lives up to all of the hype.

I bought the Artemis #6 for my G26 with open mouth. It was thicker than my CTAC to I sent it back and ordered the standard Artemis. I wore it all weekend and found it just kept riding up. I carry AIWB so everytime I sit down, it inched it's way up. It was too much of a liability for me. Alan's CS is the best and it was a pleasure dealing with him. I'm sure the Remora is a great holster, but just not for AIWB carry.

What's an Artemis? This thread is about Remora holsters. Which I use A-IWB almost every day, with great success (as has been heavily detailed on this thread) in a variety of activities. :)

Got my Remora in the mail two days after I ordered it. It seems simple and strong and I want to tell you, i cannot get it to move or dislodge. I wear cross draw and I think for a lot of circumstances, it will be perfect. By the way, I carry N Frames.

Erich, I think the "Artemis" holster is a special order style designed for the baby Glocks. I saw some discussion on another forum and a picture showed the standard #6 holster and the "Artemis" #6 side-by-side. The difference was that the re-styled holster uncovers more of the gun's grip.

I've been using a reinforced top Remora with the sweat shield for a little while and really like it. It's very comfortable and stable. Price is right too.

Erich,

Thanks for the recommendation. I ordered one for my Colt Defender, and have been testing it for the last few days. After conquering my reticence at the idea of a holster with "no visible means of support", I've really been pleasantly surprised. It has faithfully held its position, and it is without doubt the most comfortable IWB holster I have.

I ordered a sackful of them, I have one for almost every handgun I own.
I like these holsters

I've got TWO for every handgun I own...seriously, I do. :)

I have to wash off the outer surface from time to time, and I use the second holster while the first one is drying. These Remora holsters clean up really easily, by the way: dish soap, hot water, and a light scrub with a hand towel. I usually give them a couple days to dry out completely, as a tiny bit of water tends to get wicked inside via the threads.

that's a handy bit of information...thanks.
I haven't got mine dirty....yet. I am carrying my Model 49 daily in my pocket with one of them as well.
When you can carry a N frame all day in one and not have it shift around, it's a pretty good rig....

I wear mine against bare skin a fair amount, and the oils that stay on the holster surface seem to reduce the friction coefficient of the rubber exterior of the holster, making the holster less secure. Mind you, it takes a good long time (i.e., a couple of months) to notice any change in the security of the holster. But, after a light wash, they are nearly as good as new. As a side benefit, the hot water seems to kind of pull the holster back into its original shape if it's developed any kind of curve or bend.

I have been following this thread for a while and I'm considering getting one of these to try out. Many folks have praised them for their IWB use, but few have mentioned pocket use. I am looking for a pocket holster primarily, but am considering the Remora because of the pocket/IWB option.

Would anyone put this on the top of a list of strictly pocket holsters? Does the stickiness that makes these work so well as a no-clip IWB make it tougher to slip into a pocket?

Thanks.

Just stuck (or tried to) my Remora and M60 into a pair of Dockers khakis I am wearing. I don't favor pocket carry. in general, though I do have two pocket holsters. I will say the Remora is the least suitable among them for pocket carry. Waaaaaay too sticky, if ya ask me.

Be safe.

It is tougher to stick into a pocket... but, it'll never come out of the pocket unintentionally, which is its big plus.

Great holsters!!!...

Can't say enough good about Alan and Remora Holsters...
I have a Remora holster for every handgun I own...plus mag pouches...
I prefer AIWB, but can easily carry strong-side or small-of-back...
They never shift around and are always comfortable...
I even carry a Colt Commander with sweat-shield and reinforced top and it stays concealed and secure...
I'm in no way affiliated with Remora Holsters, just a believer...

Well.... Based on this thread I just purchased a Remora holster for my Sigma .40. I will let you know when I get it and what I think of it after having spent some time with it.
