4" Model 19 w/round butt w/o ribs??

I saw one of these for sale and was wondering if this was an original configuration or if it was aftermarket round but job. It's a 19 with a round butt, but without the ribs on the backstrap.

What do you think?

It should have the grooved backstrap, but never say never with S & W. Can you post a photo?

More than likely a square butt converted to a round butt. This was a popular modification at one time and was actually very easy to do. I have never seen a factory round butt k frame that did not have the grooved backstrap.

The back strap on my RB 66-5 is smooth as well.

It may be a much newer Model 19. I have a 19-8 that I believe is in that configuration, has one of the best actions of any of my Smiths.

What dash # is the one you are looking at?

I don't know the dash but it's pinned and recessed!
