I purchased a new M632, .327 Federal, yesterday. Can't pick it up for three days due to Illinois paranoia.

This gun looks exactly like the black satin Power Port model in the current S&W catalog, and on their website. However, it not black, but the normal bright stainless. Is this an older version of the Pro-Series Power Port model?

I got it new, for $399.99. Seemed like a pretty decent price as the website lists it for close to $900, the black model anyway.

I suppose some will ask why I bought it. Well, I was looking for something a little nicer to shoot than my other J-Frame Smiths, and Taurus copies. Everyone I spoke with, who had knowledge and experience concerning the .327, told me that it was much nicer to shoot, even with the full power .327 loads, than the J's with .38+P, and most certainly with .357.

My arthritic hands and wrists, as I get older, need all the help they can get. I can still handle .38+P in the heavier J's, but, it's getting more painful as time goes by. The lightweight was just plain suck. .357 is getting to be far more painful than it's worth, even in the N's. For some reason, I can still shoot my .45 Colt N's and Blackhawks without too much discomfort. Must be something in the physics of the cartridge.

So, this little purchase is just a little added insurance that I'll have something that works as "time goes by".

Anyway, I'm curious about the gun itself as I can't find any data on it. The price seemed right, and the gun seemed right, so I did it.

Thanks for any info you might have.

 Surely there are some members of this forum that have some information on this gun. Is it an older model that's been lying around the gun shop for sometime, is it an uncatalogued version, what's the skinny on it?

Thanks again for your answers and help here!:D

I remember, a few years ago, when the .327 magnum came out. Everyone was all excited about it but you couldn't find any guns. By the time S&W released the guns, the excitement had cooled off.

Theoretically, it should make a great cartridge for those that have issues with recoil. Ammo is probably going to be hard to find and expensive so I hope you reload.

Sam- Sports South[a S&W distributor] had S&W make them a dealer special the same as the black one BUT with the satin stainless finish.
If you bought it for $399 - you're STEALING - you should have to send everyone on the forum a penny!!!!!!!! A VERYYYYYYY good deal.

Gat Guns in Dundee Illinois has several more in stock for the same price? Maybe some more thieves can get to work!:D

That is an incredible price for that gun!! I own a basketfull of the j frame 32 H&R magnums but sadly I have not been home to buy one of the new 632's. (deployed in Afghanistan) I think the only thing that bothers me is the power port in front of the front sight. Can anyone tell us if it is a bother, does it really help with the recoil??
As far as ammo goes I saw that a couple of websites list it for a good price.

+1 on the Illinois paranoia. I was looking for a .327 mag, couldn't find a S&W, so I did the following:
1. Acquired a 32-20 cylinder for my M16 and had it rechambered.
2. Bought a Charter Arms, (2.5 " barrel) for a really low price and after tinkering(carefully deburring and lubing) some, it has turned out really nice, great carry gun as I don't care too much If I ding it or lose it (not so with the M16).
3. Bought a Ruger 3", excellent price, and great DA/SA. Love the adjustable rear sight, it shot the Federal 115 gr. loads to POA out of the box.
Of course now I have to get to GAT guns to find a S&W at a good price-there must be a 12 step program out there somewhere.........
In any case I really like the .327 load, it gives great penetration, good expansion, and I have tried most all of the loads from 85-115 gr. and they all perform well, the POI varience between the factory loads I have used is minimal, and the recoil is substantially less (at least to me) than the .357 in a LW J frame (of course just about anything recoils less than a .357 out of a LW J frame). And you get an extra shot into the deal.
