I purchased a new M632, .327 Federal, yesterday. Can't pick it up for three days due to Illinois paranoia.
This gun looks exactly like the black satin Power Port model in the current S&W catalog, and on their website. However, it not black, but the normal bright stainless. Is this an older version of the Pro-Series Power Port model?
I got it new, for $399.99. Seemed like a pretty decent price as the website lists it for close to $900, the black model anyway.
I suppose some will ask why I bought it. Well, I was looking for something a little nicer to shoot than my other J-Frame Smiths, and Taurus copies. Everyone I spoke with, who had knowledge and experience concerning the .327, told me that it was much nicer to shoot, even with the full power .327 loads, than the J's with .38+P, and most certainly with .357.
My arthritic hands and wrists, as I get older, need all the help they can get. I can still handle .38+P in the heavier J's, but, it's getting more painful as time goes by. The lightweight was just plain suck. .357 is getting to be far more painful than it's worth, even in the N's. For some reason, I can still shoot my .45 Colt N's and Blackhawks without too much discomfort. Must be something in the physics of the cartridge.
So, this little purchase is just a little added insurance that I'll have something that works as "time goes by".
Anyway, I'm curious about the gun itself as I can't find any data on it. The price seemed right, and the gun seemed right, so I did it.
Thanks for any info you might have.
