I'd ask if they might be interested in making periodic visits to S&W Forum to update the membership on what's new for 2A issues and firearm activities/events. Maybe a little Forum Q&A time too.

The NRA is doing a good job, but there is always room for improvement.

HR 822 (Interstate Reciprocity) has enough co-sponsors to easily pass in the House. Why hasn't the NRA used more influence to get it to the floor for a vote?

In addition to the Eddie Eagle program that teaches gun safety, why doesn't the NRA get behind educational programs that teach conflict resolution and/or alternatives to violence? That alone would show that the NRA is doing more than the gun-grabbers to address the issue of violence in our society while also protecting the RTKBA. After all, guns don't cause violence - people do.

The NRA should consider providing a "gift" (bookmark, pamphlet, token, etc.) at Naturalization ceremonies for new US citizens and appeal to the new patriots. Many other organizations do this...

Make more gifts to LEO depts. They do not have to be large gifts - only appropriate. The NRA will find themselves getting good press in community newspapers all across the land. "The Anyplace County Sheriff's Dept. recieved a $500 grant from the NRA this week to help fund _____ (insert program/gear/equipment)."

Joint fundraising with local civic/community organizations. The raffle/auction of firearms and/or accessories is a great way that civic groups raise money. NRA can provide a firearm or firearms accessory (likely donated free of charge from a manufacture/supplier) for the raffle/auction and split the proceeds with the civil/comunity group (eg. local Vol. Fire Dept.) This not only raises money for both the NRA and the community group, but also garners good local press.

+1. Several excellent ideas.

How to get off their junk mail mailing list?
And did the New Orleans people ever get their guns back?

I would ask why we can't ask. Through the years I have written the main office asking questions and never gotten a response. At one point I wrote and told them no more money until I got a response. I was a life member at the time. Still no response.

I am now endowment and I am still wanting to dialog with the powers that be.

I suspect I will die with that wish unfulfilled.

Years ago I spent a lot of time trying to get the NRA to use press releases to local newspapers to keep gunowners informed 2A issues.
At that time Covey Bean was Outdoor Editor of the Oklahoman and I worked out an agreement with him that he would publish any info that the NRA sent him that would affect Oklahoma Gun Owners.
LaPierre sent me a copy(I guess to get me off of his back) of a letter directing that this info be furnished to the Oklahoman. None was ever received. Still think that if all gunowners had the same info that NRA members receive there would be a surge in membership and a great increase in gun owner-legislator contact.

If you click on the S&W Forum icon at the top of each page, at the bottom right hand side of that page is a section with NRA daily updates concerning SA and related bills/issues. I didn't realize it was there when I first signed up...

I'd ask them to come speak at my kid's school in West Hollywood ...but I would not tell all the parents and teachers that they are from the NRA. To fill the auditorium, I would say they are an eco-friendly group like Green Peace and they want to discuss their green agenda. Surprise!

NRA Questions

Some interesting ideas and old-faithfuls.
I can answer some of them.
To receive less solicitation mail from NRA, just call the 800 number "Membership Hotline" on your membership card or in the magazine and tell them you want you name processed for non-solicitation. You'll need to have either your membership card, a magazine addressed to you, or know your membership number to get it done.
Last I checked Wayne was pulling down $1.6 million per year in direct compensation and the top officers and employees were in the half to three-quarter of a million dollar range. For the record, I disapprove.
If you want to ask questions of NRA Directors or staff, you must address your inquiry directly to a specific individual at their official address. NRA will not forward. Director addresses are typically listed in the September issue of your magazine. (Writing to LaPierre or Cox is unlikely to actually get to them personally.)
Thanks to the fella' who gave the hat-tip to my dad. Neal Knox did a lot to push NRA in the right direction.

i would asked them why this state of mass can do whats it doing. and why the nra hasn't put a stop to it. the state has an approved list of guns you can buy and glocks are on it but the attorney general says no you can't buy it. therefore glocks that are 12 years old sell for 6-7 hundred dollars in this state. we can buy very few kahrs, beretta, and no springfields, no taurus we can buy some rugers. we can only have ten rd mags and all semi-autos have to have a 10.5 pd trigger pull. we can buy more smith guns than any other make. i wonder why that is, maybe because of where there made?
anyway, other than above i think the nra does a pretty good job but i wish they woukd stop trying to sell stuff all the time and send you letters to renew your membership when you already did that 3 months prior. another thing i think most people don't know is the nra provides a 2500.00 insurance policy on your guns which is free with your membership. you have to register for it but it works, i had 14 guns stolen and theywere right there with a check. as you can probably tell i have a habit of rattling on so thats it for now

I would ask what it would cost the NRA to mount an all out attack on gun laws in Illinois. Then ask NRA members to make a small donation to cover costs of said operation. Some one needs to set the Cook County crooks back on their heels.

Access to NRA officers

Here's your chance to get up close and personal with some of the NRA officers, and at least one member of the Board of Directors (a non-salaried, volunteer position, I might add).
If you're going to be on or close to Long Island NY on September 11th, please stop by. Wayne and the others make themselves available for one-on-ones with the attendees.

Scroll down to, then click on the grey box that says "Come One Come ALL".
You'll see some details about the event.

I'd ask why the communications are ALL ONE-WAY. Amazon and Brownell's are my idea of what customer responsiveness ought to look like, and I throw them my business.

The NRA is the 500 pound pro-gun gorilla, and I'm in it for the same reason you hire a crackerjack lawyer if you really need one. Sentiment's got nothing to do with it. They use us; we use them.

Good list. Recipients of LEO donations would need to be researched very carefully. Too many police departments are ruled by political hacks who would be happy to take our money and use it to continue their attempts to restrict gun rights.

JcMack....................

you took the words right out of my mouth, brother. this "control" thing in illinois is way over due for extermination.

rohm and the "Q" ball wont allow working class folks to carry a firearm, but innocent people become victims of drive by shootings just about every day in the largest city in illinois. this has been the norm for decades.

yeah, i know the first retort is "you illinois people need to vote them out". but when the only acts that the circus offers are clowns and jugglers it aint so easy.
