Shooting my first ICORE match tomorrow. Always been a bottom feeder guy. Should be fun.

I thought I was good. I am decent in most local IDPA matches.
I was WAY out of my comfort level in my first ICORE match. I had a friggin blast too.

ICORE is a great game! The time plus scoring makes things pretty simple. Gotta shoot A's.

ICORE

Hard to improve on Jon's statement! Hope you have a blast...of all the pistol games I have enjoyed ICORE more because I am not particularily fast but take great pride in being VERY accurate and my Dad's old K-38 from 1949 that he used as a sheriff's deputy is VERY accurate when I do MY part.

USPSA shoot fast/accurately

ICORE shoot accurately/fast

I had a good time today. I had a few ammo related problems. I wasn't really prepared and knew it. But no big deal. I need to get some new brass, not range pick-up, and load some light loads. Also I need a chamber brush and one of those chamber checkers. I was shooting a 625 with moon clips and major 230 grain loads. I had some sticky chamber problems.

Range brass is no big deal... I have and use thousands of them, just make sure that you are sizing it fully. A chamber gauge is invaluable for sure. Your 625 is a great choice.
Glad you had a good time!

I would have been fine if I would have loaded more moon clips at home where I could check them in my cylinder. I loaded 23 at the house and 5 wouldn't fit my cylinder right. I stripped them and loaded different rounds and they were fine. The problems at the match started when I loaded additional moonclips with loose ammo and couldn't check them. After the match another shooter said if that happens again to check them on the load and make ready. Like I said I expected some fumbles and problems, first match and all. It's all about having fun and learning to use a different weapon.

You will learn to check EVERY moon clip in your cylinder and to go over every screw on your gun before the match.

Guess how I know?

I know about that, I've shot USPSA and SASS for years. The ICORE match was a last minute decision. I was planning on going to a multi-gun match today, but had some car problems last night so I didn't have time to get all my gear together for the multi-gun match. I been wanting to try ICORE for a while but hadn't gone to any matches or even practiced any reloads. I knew I wouldn't do well but I was out there, pulling a trigger. I quickly dug out some 45 acp ammo I loaded a couple of years ago, loaded up some moon clips, put the gun and holster rig in the range bag and went to the match. Sometimes I think the most fun at matches is when you just want to have fun shooting with a good group of people and don't really worry about the score.

And that BLUE loc-tite is like a gift from heaven. :)

I've got one of those fat wrench torque things and torque every screw to spec. They always back off. Maybe for a safe queen that gets shot 100 rounds a year you can get get by, but when you are running 200 rounds in a single day through them, loc-tite and an extractor rod tool is pretty much mandatory.
