A fleeing Taliban, desperate for water, was plodding through the Afghanistan desert when he saw something far off in the distance.

Hoping to find water, he hurried toward the object, only to find a little old Jewish man at a small stand selling ties.

The Taliban asked, "Do you have water?"

The Jewish man replied, "I have no water.

Would you like to buy a tie?

They are only $5."

The Taliban shouted, "Idiot! I do not need an over-priced tie.
I need water! I should kill you, but I must find water first!"

"OK," said the old Jewish man, "it does not matter that you do not want to buy a tie and that you hate me.

I will show you that I am bigger than that. If you
continue over that hill to the east for about two miles,
you will find a lovely restaurant. It has all the ice cold water you need. Shalom."

Muttering, the Taliban staggered away over the hill.

Several hours later he staggered back, almost dead.

"Your cheap brother won't let me in without a tie!"

Back during WWII I doubt that anyone would have gotten upset at Hilter remarks. The country has gotten too politically correct when it cannot laugh at others or even at ourselves. It is a sad day when we lose the ability to laugh and the major reason for laughing is at the expense of others.

Nobody complains when jokes are about lawyers, although they deserve it. We can joke about blondes, even though they do not understand them. But joke about enemies of this country and people object.

I agree. When we can laugh at ourselves, we are better people. When we laugh at others we only hurt ourselves. My 88 year old Pappy laughs at himself all the time; maybe that's why he doesn't take any meds!

"Laughter is the best medicine." (I think Art Linkletter said that.)

Blessings,
Hog

My father in law was dying of cancer when his doctor told him that laughter was a great healer and the longer he could laugh, the longer he would last.

Just proves what I've known all along, those Colt guys are not nearly as much fun as we are:cool:

We were raised on salty old sayings etc and I automaticly still say them. Since the country went PC I have got in a lot of trouble. I think this being PC correct bs has hurt the country more than anything else. This is suppose to be a free country yet since it turned pc we see lawsuits to where we are scared to open our mouth. Its self imposeing and giveing up and restricting our freedoms and makeing us our own worse enemy. People are out there HOPEING to be offended! It gives them a chance to be a sounding board to spiel stuff even they dont belive. Also they can lawyer up and get a little money. Look what just happened to rush this week. Turned out that woman was a professional adjitater before. She spielded downright lies of the facts yet the liberal press took her side and ignored facts. The same as they do/did with palin. People are out there hopeing and watching that their targets say anything they can construe and bend for their adjenda.
Thats okay. There always is going to be the type. The part I dont like is others that got to know better cowing down to them out of fear of loseing a buck or "customers".

Apparently I missed something in the news. How was she a professional anything, what lies did she tell? If this is the young woman talking to congress about birth control, lying would be a federal offense. Disagreeing with someone doesn't make them liars. It doesn't even make them wrong.

My opinion is Rush, in an act of stupid, made a major contribution to the DEM party election plans by talking without thinking.

Without researching the deal and only going by memory of what I heard, it went like this: She was a law student, testified she couldnt afford BC and wanted insurances be forced to pay for it. (Yet she can afford harvard law school?) The catholics and many others take umberance in paying people to get what is against their religion. It was pointed out she or anyone else could get BC pills etc for less than $10 a month. She was trying to make it sound like it cost women way over $1,400s a year or so. Doctors and pharmasists pointed out her error. Then it was discovered she had been a paid activist by the democrat party on other adjendas in the past. As I already said, I am going by what I heard, not that I personaly went pounding on doors and asking to check files! (Does anybody on anything?)

Feral, I am assuming you are (were) a church going fellow. Preachers these days are trying to apease people and stopped preaching what they need to be. Churches have to build bowling alleys, movie theaters and other places to entertain in order to get people there. People do not want the hard truth anymore as it offends them.

Personally I do not care who offends me since it happens often by the other side in court. I do not sue people because they said something about my heritage, religion. I either agree with them or disagree.

But to get upset over jokes shows a supreme lack of intelligence.

So does this mean that I can post this picture of the woman of my dreams without getting banned?

I think that would pass muster. If she were in a bikini, the posting would be pulled and I would be emailing you for an 8X10 glossy.

I posted a photo of myself in a very public place (a gun show) wearing a S&W handgun. The issue was a scantily clad lady was standing beside me, in a very public place (a gun show) with kids running around and the thread was pulled as well as me getting an infraction. Never did learn for sure if it was due to the lady's attire or my looks.

Feral, I do not have to join a group to hate anyone. I can do that by myself. However, let it be known I do not hate any group or anyone. There are some individuals I may not care much for but I do not hate them.

Being politically correct just means one is not standing up for what they believe in or what is right. If a man is a murderer, he is just that and I am not going to call him an accused murderer in the name of political correctness. But I will still make a joke about him.

To clarify the above birth control argument...The woman is Sandra Fluke, a 30 year old activist. Yes, she's nearly middle age and still in school. She selected Georgetown as a school. They're a Catholic school. She wants them to provide her with free birth control. Local survey's indicated Walmart and Walgreens had generic BC for $9 a month. She "testified" it would cost her $3000. The point in all this being she was stretching the truth or lying to make the big, evil Catholic university look like the bad guy for imposing on her sex life. I guess she needs boutique flavors of pills. Worse, the simple fact is that its well known the Catholic faith doesn't support birth control. She picked the school, hopefully not being so out of touch she knows their feelings.

The deal with Rush was that he called her a "slut" for demanding the "right" to have protected sex at someone's expense, not hers.

It has since come out she's traveling on spring break to California with her boyfriend. His parents are big time Democratic party activists. Its a put on crisis.

Also worthy of note is the fact it wasn't a "Congressional" hearing. It was a hearing of only Democratic congress persons. No opposition members or questioning allowed. We would call that a photo op. Nothing fair about it, it was to promote a cause with no opportunity for the other side to give balancing testimony. Or question her about hers.

"laughter is the best medicine" was (maybe still is) a regular column/section in the Readers Digest magazine. It solicited & paid for readers joke contributions. Where they got the title, whom knowz.

Art Linkletter said "kids say the darn'dest things" and others etc. He may have originated the laughter-best medicine saying but Readers Digest made it known to millions.
