Favorite whiskey?

For a Blend, definitely Jameson Irish; triple distilled and as smooth as it gets. For a single Malt I'm partial to Glenmorangie. I took a tour of the distillery which is located in Tain in the Scotland Highlands. They don't produce very much as compared to the much larger, commercial brands so its much more difficult (and expensive) to find, especially in the States. However it's well worth the effort :)

1. Southern Comfort
2. Jack Daniels

Both straight up on the rocks!

For all you Irish drinkers, you should try Redbreast. Other than a peaty single malt, this this my favorite.

My personal area of expertise, as an ex-liquor salesman, give Elijah Craig 18yr a try for an excellent bourbon. Highland Park 18 (12 is not quite as good but much more economical) for a superb any time of the year scotch. Both need no ice or water to open up. Water makes an 18yr too oaky. Tenn. whiskey....Jack of course. Jamesons if your Irish.

Scotch: Oban or Black Label (Blue if you're buying)
Bourbon: Blanton's any day of the week. But 1792 or Makers in a Manhattan.
Rye: Templeton Rye

On rare special occasion: I'll pull the bottle of Booker's from my bar.

Any 12 year old Scotch. I buy in Mexico at the duty free, very reasonable prices. Bought a 12 year old 1.75 bottle of Buchanan's last weekend for $60.00 plus $4.20 in taxes coming back across. I keep looking at the Walker blue label though, anyone every try this?

No I haven't tried it. I have read a couple of articles written by "Whisky experts"who say it's really not any better then the Gold label. (except to impress folks with how much you spent)

Is this true? I dunno, I've never even had any Gold label. But my picks are as follows.

Whisky
1. Johnny Walker black label (best blend)
2. Balvenies Doublewood (malty, rich, smooth, but too spendy)
3. Glenlivit 12 yr old ( V.G. light, smooth, fairly reasonable price)

Whiskey
1. Jim Beam (As good as any Bourbon or Rye regardless of price)
2. Canadian mist. (Top of the line taste, moderate price)

I was gonna mention J.D. But Grandma told me...If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.....So I won't.

Irish Powers. They've never heard of Bushmills or Jamesons in Ireland. Powers.

Laphroaig Cask Strength - Not for the faint of heart, but I love that smoky, hospital-gauze flavor!

I only drink whisky because I haven't found a whiskey that I liked.

Sadly, my bottle of Springbank 21 is nearly gone.

For anyone who likes single malt whiskys but not their prices, I would recommend trying some McClelland's. These are single malts that come from famous distilleries, but cost much less because they are not sold under their more famous names. There are 4 varieties: Islay, Lowland, Highland, and Speyside. I like the Islay one the best - it's actually Bowmore. I can usually buy McClelland's 70cl bottles for less than $20 on sale where I live - quite a bargain compared to the famous labels.

By the way, Bowmore is one of the few Scottish distilleries that has its own floor maltings (where the barley is spread on the floor to sprout). Highland Park and Springbank still use this old method, too.

A good peaty single malt from Isley, Lagavulin when I can afford it. Whilst in Korea years ago, I acquired a taste for Black Joker. Very rough on the throat but it became an acquired taste. Nothing else was available.

Whiskey is my go to drink, havent had one yet i didn't enjoy but plain ol jack daniels is my best friend followed by gentlemans jack, pendleton, makers mark and knob creek. still waitin for the right moment to buy a bottle of single barrel. any body care to tell me how delicious it is

The Whisky I drink has no "e" in it. My favorite is Laphroaig, Single Malt 10 year old.

Very Peaty, very good.

I'm too much of an Alabama redneck to not like Jack Daniel's, my preference being Gentleman Jack. In an extremely close tie is Maker's Mark bourbon. Can't seem to understand Scotch and it's prices and malts and so forth enough to appreciate it, much less afford it. As far as I'm concerned, Canadian whiskey of ANY kind is really only suitable to me in a mixed drink.
