Hints of new M&Ps pistols coming...

I can say with 99% certainty that S&W will not be coming out with a 10mm. They want a gun that will sell and sorry, that's not the 10mm. Single stack is the best bet.

Polymer frames are just one kind of material. I can appreciate M&Ps, got a friend to buy one its better than XD. Metal just makes a better frame in my opinion. 3913 4006 910 - You need weight to steady a gun. If your going to shoot then learn to hold the gun up. Practice with a bottle full of sand and learn to shoot. If you cant hold a gun what the H___ stick to needle point. You need weight in the head of a club or Golf is just Croquette! Same with shooting M-16 A2 its heavy 7# right? M-4s what they weigh now with slings lights lasers scope and a m231 grenade launcher. I think people just get on the band wagon - fad - craze whatever. None of them know how to shoot. Buy a 40 XD latest best bs gun. They cant hit beyond 10 feet just watch them at the range nice 24" group. MP Glock the same no one can shoot. Just load up and bang bang bang. So I shoot my Mod 14 at 30 feet or so and I wonder what these yayhoos think? I want them to bring back the Classic Autos in metal 3913 469 669 910. Melt down those polymers and make ear plugs out of them.

looks like a M&P to me!

What gave it away, the words "M&P" in the photo?

I'd say that everyone who said it would be a compact of some sort is right....Check out the rear of the frame, it's bobbed, no beaver tail, just like the existing compacts. I'm thinking it'll be a thin slide/single stack. Kinda like a Walther PPS.

There is a similar thread running over at M4Carbine and member Chuck_B posted the following interesting tidbit:

"It is very likely the rumored single stack 9mm. I heard from a a friend at DeSantis Gunhide that they have been sent one so the can get started on a holster for it. He couldn't go into detail, but apparently it's going to really be something special. He compared it to the Ruger LC9 and Kahr, but much better he said. He said this will be just what we have all been waiting for.......lets hope so."

One of the best rants I've read in a while. I would say though, that you shouldn't hold back. ;)

Right now the hot product in the market is in small, easy to hide 9mm single stack pocket-type pistols.

Gunmakers must make products that sell, and 10mm has never been known as a blockbuster salesmaker even during its heyday.

A 3rd Gen return won't happen as a mass market item. Most modern shooters consider a Glock 17/M&P9 to be about the limit for practical carry in terms of weight and size. We on this forum know different, but we are but a fraction of the gun market. Most consumers who are buying firearms don't know anything about history or trigger control;they want something lightweight and easy to hit with that's inexpensive. With small stature women coming into the shooting sports also a single stack can be sold to more people.

I personally carry a Beretta 92 for ccw-as but losing my beloved & discontinued S&W to the fuzz after a shooting isn't appealing-, but most shooters my age think its utter insanity to carry a piece that large. I went shooting with a friend of mine back at the base once , he brought his Glock 23 and I took my cased PT92 Taurus. Once we parked out there he asked if I was carrying, and his jaw hit the floor once he saw the OWB leather Beretta holster on my hip. "Holy sh-- thats a big gun". When the lay shooter thinks CCW, he's thinking something sized like a Walther PPK.

My money is on Single Stack. When taking the factory tour in February, a worker told me that he was making single stack M&P slides on the CNC machine.

I HAVE A PICTURE OF IT!!!!

I JUST HANDLED IT... Pretty nice for sure, it will definitely be replacing my cheap but functioning LC9.. anybody.. make me an offer, it is officially available!! The new gun is still a week or 2 away from release... I got pictures of it on my phone too....:D

It really felt a lot nicer than my LC9.... felt like an M&P.. just single stack grip, narrower than a reg M&P, but I think wider than the LC9.. The grip is also like a full size, more so than a compact... I like it alot... I'm gonna sneak back up when the bosses aren't around and see if I can get a little more time fondling it.. gonna be a lot of LC9's for sale!!! Being as I'm from Mass, we won't see it for at least another 6 months, you guys out there in the rest of the country get it first.

Oh ya!!! The big question... the trigger!! It was good!!! I think most guys will like it and hopefully realize it's not a 1911 or a Bglock...

Yeah, I see a sub-compact single stack in the future. The market for pocket guns is insane right now.

New M&P...

Compact is where it's at right now. I bought an LC9 and the date on the fired case envelope was just 2 weeks prior to me buying it!!!!
I love my M&P 9fs and 45c but needed a smaller pocket pistol for a ccw,
at least in the spring/summer seasons......
I'd buy one (or two...) of the M&Ps and just work them into the rotation.
I'd hope they have ample supplies before announcing it.....
S&W .... the suspense is killing us!!!!!!!
Happy Easter to all !!!

Misplaced Wishful Thinking

Those of you wanting a concealable single-stack .45 shouldn't wait around for S&W to build it. Take a good look at Kahr's entry. It's already available and successful rather than on the drawing boards.

I love my M&P .45 for range use and night stand duty. I think the .45 ACP design is too wide and bulky to ever offer serious CCW competition, no matter how much you hack off the design.

During the 70s and 80s, it seemed that S&W was issuing a new gun model every week in order to compete. They tried to be all things to all agencies. It was impossible to figure out what was what. First and second generation S&W semi-autos felt like bricks in the hand. During the 80s and after Glocks burst on the scene, instead of embracing evolutionary firearms technology, S&W spokemen bad-mouthed and poo-pooed the polymer design, telling everyone that, just like talking-movies and automatic transmissions, the fad wouldn't last. As a result. Glock cleaned S&Ws clock. Glocks have been around for nearly 30 years and S&W is finally offering some serious competition. Better late than never.

Somebody posted a link to a picture on M&P forum looks like a legit picture.
