Had to Wait Too Long For a Shield???

You got me on that ..sort of. I live 20 minutes from there. They get a few in and sell out quickly.
They had one when I was in the other day but it was already a pre purchased one. You get the idea.. look at all that are out of stock. And that place is a big Sig dealer. In fact I don't think they even sell S&W semi auto's there...hoity toity place. Les Bauer, Wilsons, Kimbers, Sigs.. they have some S&W Wheel guns but I have never seen an M&P there. My wife bough a P238 from there 2 weeks ago. They are only open Thursday- Saturday. Most is on line purchases.

I see them all the time. At least 5 at every store.

Wow! Pretty amazing! Must have all been sent to Michigan!!

Send me a few shop names / locations where they have this bountiful supply. I will contact them. I have a good FFL that I can use for the transfer. If I am able to get one then I will be very appreciative! Thanks for the heads up!!

I bought another Shield 9 mm today from Grab a Gun for $412 shipped to my FFL plus their $25 transfer. I ordered this one for my father in law after seeing mine. I was looking at facebook today when the Grab a gun guys posted to look out on their website in the next few hours as they were going to post some 9 and 40 shields for sale. I called and ordered one over the phone and its being shipped out tomorrow. Really nice guys to deal with and big ups to them for not hiking up the price unlike Stockers did when I bought mine about a month ago for $479.00.

Got a Shield!!

Got it at Top Gun in Ohio.. I can see why everyone wants one, it shoots like no other gun I have tried, low recoil, great feel, very smooth trigger, and very accurate.

One thing I don't like is the huge amount of pressure required to load each round into the magazine, guess I will buy an autoloader.

If you really want one search the internet every night and dont just Google Shield, (some stores dont put thier full inventory on the web) so go to each store and search there.

Also call all your local stores, most will tell you what day they get shipments.

And don't forget about lay-off and un-employment after the catch up and things slow down to "normal" again. New hires are also first to go back out the door.

People can rationalize it all they want. Money was there. Guns were not. Money went to another company.

Very simple, actually.

After researching the shield for a couple of weeks, I told my brother about it. He called me last monday and told me he found a store with 4 .40 cal. He picked me up and we both bought one. I haven't shot it yet, and I kind of wish I had a 9mm. I put an add on a gun trade site and got a reply in a few minutes with a offer of 450.00 for it.

would you want your gun made by a new worker who is not skilled in making guns

Top Gun in Chesterland ... The only M&P they listed is the shield in 9mm & .40. Both out of stock...

Well...No xswilly, I don't think anyone of us would want that. However, your insightful input is appreciated. :D

Same here. I've finally given up. If and when one shows up I'll look at it, but I'm not as hot to buy as I was earlier!

Yup. And by the time you and I are ready to buy our next gun, something new and hot will be making headlines everywhere and the Shield will not necessarily be the first choice.

Amen to that! It's probably good that I can't find one. My wife would probably put me and my safe out in the driveway!!

The diehards are still going to wait it out until they get one. All the (so called) "quiter's" are doing,is bringing those diehards up a couple steps in the waiting line. S&W will still sell their handguns.

And as with anything, there are those people that never planned on getting one anyway and are just blowing smoke up our six.

...and although this is a M&P forum, I'd appreciate your thoughts on the Springfield.
I shot the XDs today. Ran 100 rounds of PMC Bronze 230 gr FMJ ammo through it without a hitch. Very impressed with the feel and performance. The biggest surprise was the very reasonable recoil for a sub-compact .45 ACP.

I'll still buy the Shield whenever one becomes available. However, the XDs will most likely be my primary go-to self defense weapon.

Yes, but they will never realize what the potential was had there been an adequate supply to begin with. Again, we can talk supply and demand theory till we are all blue in the face. The fact is, S&W way under estimated the demand for this great handgun. I would just like to know what they are doing to catch up.

Just curious to know who you feel are the smoke-blowers?

S&W Shield 9mm

My small town gun store are selling them for $395 cash plus tax. I put my name on a waiting list in mid-May and it came yesterday. So a 2 month wait for a fair price on the gun. Others stores in the area are selling them for $399, $449 and $499 plus tax and they have waiting lists too. Personally, I would wait 2 months to save the $50-$100 instead of having one right away.

I like the Shield; it small, has a decent buller capacity, and comes with 2 magazines. And it's a S&W. I haven't fired it yet, but sure I will like it.

I'm not sure how much money S&W would be losing. They have a gun that is, for now, popular and getting good reviews and is in high demand. I mean, this fall Apple will probably have a new iPhone and supply will run low as it always does and there will be a backorder and people will be just fine waiting for their new phone. Having any product in such demand that people are willing to be on a waiting list and in some cases pay more than MSRP is not a bad thing; it's better than the alternative.

If someone offered me $499 plus tax for my Shield, I would sell it today and wait for another.

Shield Availability

I have been waiting forever to get a M&P Shield in 9MM. Most dealers don't seem to be getting many in at all. The ones that do say they don't remain in their display case for more than a few minutes before they are sold. Is anyone hearing when the supply will get better? Must be great to have S&W stock right now!

Just be patient and keep looking. They are out there. Be patient. Otherwise buy a Glock 26...not as comfortable to carry to but very, very reliable. I have both...the G26 is a double stack (holds 10 rds, slightly thicker). I love both and was very lucky to get a "Shield" only by being in the right place at the right time. Good Luck!!!

Thanks, my son has a Glock 26 and he loves it as well, but because it has a double stack mag, he has to use a loader for the ammo. I was hoping the Shield with the single stack will be much easier. I have the 380 bodyguard and loading ammo in that gun is great.
