Should we refer to our rifle as an AR 15-22 or ...

Should we refer to our 15-22 as an AR 15-22 or M&P 15-22? I personally don't say that I have an AR 15-22. I always call it a Smith & Wesson Military and Police 15-22. Am I being too nitpicky?

I know, I really shouldn't be allowed to post at 3 am.

I don't call mine "Military and Police" because, unlike my M&P 9c, the Military and Police have probably never used a 15-22. I understand why they call it that, because the design is the same as the M&P 15, but still. I do call it an M&P sometimes, because many people don't know what that stands for anyhow.

I have read here in other threads that a few police depts have bought them for initial training on an AR platform for officers. I have no way of knowing this true or not, just saying I have seen people say that here.

Gee, what does Smith and Wesson call it? It's an M&P 15-22; there's no "AR" anywhere in the name. Most people here just call it a 15-22 because there's no other firearm with that designation.

I don't know anyone who uses the long form of M&P.

S&W's designation is 15-22 not 15/22.

something/22 is generally used by Ruger.
