Favorite Beers?

I don't drink Beer very often, but when I do it's....

Right now my favorite American beer is brewed right here in Texas. It's called Shiner Black and I think it is only available on tap. Shiner Boch in long necked bottles is good too.

The Mexicans on the other hand have it going on. Negro Modelo and Negro Leon are very good beers. I prefer the full rich flavor of REAL beer.

Shiner Black can be had in bottles, I have one bottle left...good stuff. My regular, go to beer is Shiner Bock though. I can get it here in CA but it is priced with the import beers. I usually stock up a few cases whenever I get back toward home or far enough east that it isn't "imported".

Negro Modelo is a good full flavored dark beer. Yuengling is good, but I can only have that when I get to the east coast.

If I have to drink "normal" American, I'll have a MGD. Miller High Life tastes like a skunk, Bud has little to no flavor (and , to me, a wierd aftertaste), Coors has no flavor at all.

In my drinking days, I drank Lone Star like other people drank water. If an establishment did not carry Lone Star, I switched to Heineken or Rolling Rock. All three have very different tastes. I think the packaging may have been what got me.
Shiner used to make very good beer. Shiner Bock was inexpensive and very tasty. It's not even a true bock anymore, and costs a lot more. Shiner Premium was a favorite. It was known as a cheap Texas beer, but had a lot of flavor. Now it's called Shiner Blonde and is anything but cheap.

Three Floyd's-Alpha King would be my favorite. Seriously good.

Sierra Nevada, and anything by Frederick, Maryland's own Flying Dog Brewery. I won't offend the mods by naming my two favorite of their products, because they might consider them offensive. But they taste, really, really good.

Well...when I'm swillin' I like Busch, Schaefers lite and Natty (otherwise known as fishing beer)

When I'm drinking, I loves me an IPA or a good dark ale. Abita pretty covers the plate on those. I also love Guiness and Highland Brewery around Ashville makes an Oatmeal Porter that is really good. When I travel I always seek out the local stuff and am rarely disaponted. In short, Beer is like sex-some is better than others but it's all good.

I'll drink whatever is available as long as it's icy cold(except iron city). Yeungling is the house beer.

We got onto Dutch beers in another topic, and I think it's best to open a separate beer thread.

I like Michelob, Heinneken (sp?), Grolsch, and Samuel Smith's Old Pale Ale. (The last is technically not a beer.)

I think Kirin is a Japanese version of Michelob. Tastes like it to me, anyway. And I like Budweiser, especially when its unique flavor becons.

I dislike Coors, which seems sort of ephemeral. Too lght is too light. Heinniken (sp?) is my light beer.

I don't swill beer, so can afford the brands I prefer. A six-pack will last me a week or more. Some guys drink that in a night. Their appearance often reflects that.

What's your favorite beer?

Sir, I've just never warmed up to the fancy-schmancy boutique beers. I'll drink them if that's all that's available, but I much prefer PBR.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

Carlsberg Elephant Beer is at the top of my list, although it is not locally available in cans, and glass containers are not permitted on the National Forest shores where I like to camp, so it's often Heineken, in cans, an acceptable and cooler friendly alternative...

Coors Light is my main choice of brew.
My bro drinks Natural Light, I like that as well.
A friend of mine always buys these high dollar beers, stuff is nasty. If I drink just one of them, I either get an instant headache or feel like puking.

I like AJ Scrumpy's Cider. Good stuff, $7 a bottle.

My favorite is Summit Extra Pale Ale, followed closely by Bell's Two Hearted Ale. Summit is from St. Paul, close to home, while Bell's is from, I think, Kalamazoo. I'll drink an Oberon, also from Bell's, or a Spotted Cow, from New Glarus, WI.

When it comes to mass-produced beers in cans I favor Old Milwaukee, just as Consumer Reports did.

No lite beers for me, and nothing from Coors, except maybe an occasional Blue Moon.

Cheap is PBR

We are blessed in West Michigan with some great microbrews: White Flame, Founders, and New Holland to name a few.

One of my favorite seasonal beers was just released a couple weeks ago: Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island in Chicago.

Really like the occasional bourbon barrel aged stouts and porters.
