Favorite inexpensive range ammo?

What brands do you prefer? Tul? Prvi? Rem Umc? Wolf? Any FTF / FTE?? How would you rank how dirty they are? I clean after every range visit regardless of firearm so I'm not too concerned about it- just curious...

I have had really good luck with PMC Bronze, not too dirty and pretty darn accurate.

For my AR it's 55 gr PMC Bronze. I bought another load of it when Cabelas had it for $6/box a bit ago. My one 9mm (Kahr) gets Walmart Federal and all the rest of the toys see handloads only.

The least expensive ammo that works the best = my reloads.

I use 62gr Silver Bear. My range requires a hollow or soft point bullet, and it works fine on hogs too.

The guy at the local gunstore was trying to tell me JSP and JHP rounds should not be used in a MP 15 because the bullets must have a "sharp point" I've never heard of such a thing. Sounds like malarkey to me. Any FTF rounds for you cypher??

Nope, my rifle runs them fine. The guy at your LGS is misinformed, to be polite.

Very misinformed, I run HP's alot, plus most Match Ammo is Hollow Point.

That's what I was thinking guys.... OR he only carries FMJ and was trying to sell what he had. lol thanks. he said he had never heard of anyone hunting with .223 JSP rounds like Fusion etc. I was just scratching my head. If you hunt anything good size with a .223 it MUST be JSP or JHP from what I understand.

I'm having very good luck with Prvi Partizan. Seems to group a little tighter then the PMC out of my Sport. I also just ran a mag of the WW 5.56 62 Gr. hollow points from the FBI overrun sale and they shoot a little higher then the 223 but very good group.

I always buy practice ammo from the "big three," of Winchester Q or USA loads, Remington UMC and Federal American Eagle.

It's item #Q3314 listed as "practice ammo" 5.56 mm 62 Gr Open Tip. According to what I have read, it's an overrun from an FBI order. I got mine from SGAmmo for $15.95 per 30 round box in stripper clips. I have also seen it listed by Midway. Nice shooting stuff. Feels a little snappy even for 5.56. The only thing I noticed is there is a SLIGHT difference in seating depth from round to round. Shoots great with nice tight groups.
