Favorite inexpensive range ammo?

I wouldn't shoot steel cases, because of the build up in the chamber. Best to buy is the Winchester white box or Federal "American" - they have Lake City brass and use the 62gr FMJ which is good for having fun. Home grown with 68 or 77gr HPBT in the green box for a match round.

The guy at the local gunstore was trying to tell me JSP and JHP rounds should not be used in a MP 15 because the bullets must have a "sharp point" I've never heard of such a thing. Sounds like malarkey to me. Any FTF rounds for you cypher??

I'd change LGS. They are blowing smoke "where the sun don't shine". I wouldn't let them work on anything. Do your research, don't listen to their garbage and buy what you want.

I hear you but these guys are actually very knowledgeable - about pistols and standard rifles. They are just a small shop that doesn't dabble much in ARs. I've seen maybe two there. I've talked with the owner in depth about pistols and he knows them cold. So maybe that was a personal albeit limited experience with them or that's what he was told. Hard to say. I always do my homework which is a big reason why I'm here. No one knows firearms like the people who use that type every day.

I like PMC Bronze a lot. I've shot through 3 boxes of Remington UMC too without any problems and it was very accurate.

My problem is I want to re-load, but I don't have the time to drive 2 hours away to Cabelas to get the stuff, especially with Thanksgiving around the corner. And PMC Bronze locally is $9.99!!!

I want to try PMC X-Tac too, but I can't find it ANYWHERE!

I use 62gr Silver Bear. My range requires a hollow or soft point bullet, and it works fine on hogs too.

I keep hearing that shooting hogs with an AR is not a very good idea a they don't have the necessary knock down power. I pick up my first AR (M&P15 midlength MOE) next Monday and have every intention of hunting some hogs with it. You knocking them down alright with yours?

I have the same problem where I have to drive over 2 hours to get primers and powder. Everything else I order over the web. But when I have an excuse and I am in Wichita I pick stuff up even if I dont need it right now, because I will need it.

Pays to do your home work first and know your stuff. The had part is dealing with some know it all snotnosed "ninja" kid behind the counter. I tell them,"If this stuff is so bad,I should get a better price so you can get rid of it" or "If it's so good, give me a super deal and I'll try it". Also knowing your stuff first,it's easy to let some dealer back them self in the corner and that's a dead give away on what they really know. And what costomer service will be like. Have them write down and sign what they "say" they'll back up too.

$9.95 here for 20. For $10 I opted for 20 federal m193. No brainer. Weird pricing!

Around 9500 Wolf/ WPA in the last 15 months with my Sport. Another 5500 thru the DPMS in the last year.
For pistols, the UMC they sell at Walmart is cheap and good. I send out brass for reloads.
When you go thru 300-800 per day, unless you are paid to use one guys' ammo, you shoot what is affordable and works. Wolf ammo does just that; it's close to MOA, and rarely acts up in the rifles.
For accuraccy shooting, I shoot what I would actually hunt with- this way, no surprises when it's time to put meat on the table.
