Try reading the Founding Fathers reason for the 2nd Amendment in the Constitution slowly...maybe you might get it, but I doubt it

The reason for the 2nd amendment was to defend against Government PERIOD! It had nothing to do with hunting, sport, or anything but stopping out of control Government. If our founding fathers had the use of AR style or full auto weapons I assure you they would have embraced them whole heartedly.

The Forefathers had modern canons in Acton, Mass which got the whole "shot hear 'round the world" thing going... So then, I can have a modern cannon? I rather like the 25mm chain gun thank you...

... but to me assault weapons meet a different level of compliance than say my Winchester .38 Magnum.

BTW, what's a Winchester .38 Magnum? You don't have one because there isn't any such thing.

they will grandfather you in, and I do not share your all views of AK/ ARs as being "normal" guns. Personally I blame the kids mother for not having her firearms securely locked up in a safe where her mental ill son could not have access to them. Everyone here knows what assault rifles are capable of and IMO they give the whole gun industry a bad name and when things like this happen loss of life is severe.

If it makes you feel safer to have one of them so be it but there was a reason they were banned originally under Clinton and another reason why they will bring back another assault weapon ban in the near future. I am not interested in a debate over what a gun is and what an assault rifle is. I do not own nor want to own a M16 based weapon.


Maybe they should or could give them class 3 status and people only meeting a higher level of clearance could possess one? Something IMO needs to be done but it should not make criminals out of legal gun owners and their rights under the constitution. If that makes me an anti-gunner to you all then I guess it does but to me assault weapons meet a different level of compliance than say my Winchester .38 Magnum.

They we're written and ratified by men who had seen the Queens army up close and personal and knew of what they we're talking about. They we're not spineless individuals willing to capitulate on their founding principles. To destroy
or revise ANY of these cherished freedoms in order to appease
the left is completely unacceptable to most of us who own guns. Perhaps a member of the Brady campaign is calling on us.........

I don't want to shock Ol' James up there, but I could have done the same thing as the wacko did with a 10-22. Or a 12 ga. See? The "Assault Weapon" is the exact same action as the 10-22. I timed myself today, while out shooting with my grandson, and with my 10-22 and six magazines, I was able to hit a pie plate at 40' with all 60 rounds in under a minute. That was 6 magazine changes.

So what now?

Introduction of a Bill does not mean passage and the Speaker of the House decides what will introduced in the House, not Witchstein and company.

Of course the usual scum will run up the Hill with their usual stupidity. Whether they get it done or not, is a different matter.

....and let's not forget, Harry Reid fully credits the NRA for being a difference in his getting re-elected.

So right. Introduce is one thing, passage another. It's time to write your Senators and Congressmen.

It's just a crying shame that the options that might make a real dent in the number of these type events, like examination of mental health treatment and practical security measures for schools, will not get the attention they deserve because of the gun control battle.

Lets face it, after Obama's comments this evening he will be on a mission to introduce the MOST RESTRICTIVE gun control legislation. If he cannot meet his goal via the Congress then the Statist will use the avenue of regulation and/or Executive privilege ala Hugo Chavez style.

I for one fear that another freedom will be taken away by this man. He truly is changing America into a country that is foreign to the founding and traditions of our heritage.

It is a Henry Big Boy and one of the one off state issued additions they made 3 per state one in .22 cal, .45 colt and 38 special magnum which is what I have. My dad shot one in the military and I am sure you all have FEAR or else you would not be holding onto your own interpretation of the 1776 constitution. I am a gun owner and proud of it but you could post pics of Ted Nugget killing boars and deers all day long with his and I would still not understand its purpose other than what it was designed to do.

I really would not support a ban but if they Class III then then that could be an option but IMO the ban legislation is all but a done deal. Cope and try to make it through it peacefully.

I cant stand it when people make the argument that the founding fathers had muskets and that AR15 are not what the founding fathers envisioned when they drafted the 2nd Amendment. Well guess what the Military now has M16/M4 weapons and we have them as civilians. The whole 2nd Amendment was to keep govt in check, so having similar weapons makes sense in today's world.

Funny how THREE firearms were used and the outcry will be for one type. You can still purchase 30 round Glock magazines and it shoots just as fast as an AR plus is easier to conceal.

The guy could have strapped a number of 7 shot .357's to his chest. They shoot nearly as fast. 3 on each side. Lets see that's 42 potential dead......

I just emailed the Speaker and our new US Senator from Texas that was endorsed by the NRA. Sure hope they can bring some common sense to the table instead of the emotional liberal knee jerk reactions we are seeing.
