NY gun law, what constitutes a military feature?

So, just how bad is the "no sales" aspect?

"AR's can't ever be sold EVER or transferred EVER and must be surrendered to the imperialist empire for smelting when you die."

Are quote "Assault Weapons" unquote already required to be registered right now?

In other words, if you already have an AW in NY, did they just make it impossible to sell or transfer? Or can you sell them out of state up until some date?

I assume when your heirs turn them over to be smelted, the only part they'd be require to turn over would be the stripped lower? At least that way they could sell the remaining parts and get at least SOME of your investment back?

What a miserable situation for our brothers up North!

I think seven rounds was chosen for a reason. For one, nobody makes seven round mags, making it initially impossible to comply. I suspect that you won't even be able to modify current mags from whatever to seven rounds. I hate to say it, but the next school/mall/church/theater shooter will probably be carrying a bunch of 5-6 shot revolvers and then they'll come after those. Under the new law you'll have to own more than one nightstand gun...if they'll let you.

Nah, the criminal or crazy person will read the law and say to himself....Self, going over state lines to get a magazine for the AR 15 I just stole is illegal so I can't possibly do that. And all will be well and the pink nirvana promised by the do gooders will come to pass and we can all sit around singing kumbaya by the campfire......but not on a no burn day.

Art: I don't know anything about it, but I know what I like when I see it.

Assault Weapons: I know what I don't like when I see it, and anything I don't like needs to be banned.

Keep the law intentionally vague and open to reinterpretation in every case; makes it easier to apply to any situation.

Trying to read that faq is just nauseating. I am not even a NY resident and I find it all insulting. Semi-auto pistols have been around for more than 100 years and now they are suddenly *assault weapons* because Cuomo and his goons say so....? Sorry, doesn't work that way. I'd be making arrangements to pack up a truck and say efff you.

Bull. If one commits an illegal act with a single shot pistol, is it then constituted an an assault weapon? Because they can kill as quickly as any other pistol. 1 revolver and a few speed clips can work just as quickly as a Glock 17 with a few magazines. They make up their own definitions and then try to justify their own semantics to boot.

"Q: I own a handgun, is that an assault weapon?

A: Most handguns are not assault weapons and are not affected by this law. A traditionally designed handgun is not an assault weapon. For example a single shot pistol or a revolver cannot be an assault weapon. To confirm that your handgun is not an assault weapon and to see common models and characteristics click here."
