Aaaannnd Now, Vermont!

I know VT has become much more liberal in recent decades. Does anyone who's up there and has some idea of the legislature's make up have any idea if this could actually gain some traction?

I cant speak for Vermont but this is the recent on goings in Maine. I have not yet heard any type of new gun laws or bans. not quite sure if this presentation was done for possible new laws here in the state, or for lawmakers to make decisions on the federal level.

Notice all this nonsense is happening in the BLUE states only.

problem is that the blue states out number the red states. Maine was always refereed to as "the two Maines" the northern half of the state being republican or conservative and the southern part being more liberal and democratic. After this last election I looked at the break down of how each county in the state voted ( we have 16 ) and all but 1 was blue, even the northern part of the state was all blue. Made me realize just how bad the north east has become liberal

Bummer, I know exactly what you mean. Too bad we couldn't chip off that piece of the state. May have to tweek Pittsburg a little too. Then we could go red. It's a shame that two cities ruin the rest of the state.

5 round magazines? Is this a joke? How many semi-autos only take 5 rounds, same goes for rifles and even wheelguns (not a mag, but still).

I live in Westmoreland County and I agree with breaking off Allegheny County and those select Eastern ones, remember we are the ones that cling to our guns and bibles

I think the problem is that we as gun owners have been too complacent. We hear someone speaking nonsense about guns and we don't correct them. We see articles and or "letters to the editor" in newspapers and we don't write rebuttals. We even see pro gun polititians fighting the good fight and we don't write them thanking them for their support.
We must become more vocal. We must speak facts and be polite. It infuriates the leftists when we cite statistics because their view depends on nothing more than emotion. The first thing they call us is stupid. Let them portray themselves as such and let us be the calm ones.
This is not the time to sit back we must be proactive. Spread the word. Organize pro gun events even if it's small. Inform the non gun owning public how your local gun clubs sponser gun safety classes. Explain to the non gun owners what kind of training you had to go through to get your carry permit and what training you took on your own if applicable. Do not feel ashamed because you own guns and make excuses for it. Be proud. Above all we cannot turn on each other. We can't say because we don't own ARs or AKs that we think it's appropriate to restrict them. If it becomes illegal to own one type of firearm simply because of the way it looks. It would be terribly naive to think that restrictions will not progress to something you do own.

The last time I checked this individual legislator had no co-sponsors for this bill, none, zero. Unless things change it won't go anywhere. And by the way, there are two Vermonts. Burlington, our largest city is considered liberal (and trying to pass an AR ban), and the rest of Vermont. Think New York City and the remainder of New York. Our Gov. is pro-gun and a Dem. I'm not concerned about what our (state) government will do, the Feds is another story.

I have little patience for the academically and intellectually dishonest folks in tis great country -- we may just need to educate them. I have pledged my life and my honor to defend our Constitution. I won't see morons mis-interpret it.

With due respect Colonel, the people you mention in your first sentence do not so much "mis-interpret" - generally they just plain lie in the model of Hitler/Goebbels/etal., attempting to obtain what they want, but I realize you are a gentleman and you are writing in a forum that operates in a family-friendly manner.

Our adversaries cannot be persuaded. They will not listen to reason and they are perfectly willing to ignore history. Our job is to influence those who have not consciously made the decision to sell out our freedom for a few pieces of silver. Hopefully the people of Vermont will be able to overpower whatever, if any, transplants may be driving the foolishness. From time to time those types attempt similar foolishness here in Indiana. Fortunately, they are always unsuccessful - at least on a statewide basis.

I wonder how states like NY, MA, and VT would feel about a boycott in the purchase of hunting and fishing licenses. Why should sportsman spend their money in states that have certain elected officials that treat them like the enemy. This would certainly give the more sensible politions of these states something serious to think about.
Nothing like slamming them in the wallet to get their attention.

Vermont is much more liberal than its next door neighbor, New Hampshire, whose apt motto is "Live Free or Die"

Certain parts maybe, but there still are a lot of real Yankee Conservative Republicans in both states. Stayed probably 30 years at the same Bed and Breakfast in Warren NH in my trout fishing days, you would love to sit around the kitchen table in the evening with these guys.

Ummm, I hate to say this since AZ was a "Red" state voting non Obama...but we just had one introduced here on the 16th .....

On January 16th, Senator Ableser (D-26) filed two bills attacking law-abiding gun owners.

SB 1049 would expand the definition of "school" in ARS 13-3102 (Weapons Misconduct) to include post-secondary educational institutions (i.e., colleges and universities). The proposed laws would make possessing a firearm on post-secondary educational institutions a Class 6 Felony. Under current law it is a misdemeanor to possess a firearm on K-12 school grounds and firearms policy on colleges and universities is controlled by the governing boards of the institution.

SB 1050 would outlaw the possession of any magazine or other "feeding device" that holds more than 10 rounds and make their possession a Class 4 Felony.

Is that because he can only count to "5"? Seems like we have a lot of intellectually challenged legislators across the land.
Good thing he hasn't lost a finger or you would be down to 4.
