If there ever was a great example that "Gun Control Laws" do not work, Chicago, Rahm Emanual and the rest in control there prove it does not.

Yes he is. Part of his electioneering campaign was he would add 1000 officers to the streets. It was taken to mean by all that he would add 1000 men to the roles. But like the weasel he is (weasels, I'm sorry to insult you with the comparison) he pulled officers from desk jobs in precincts to fill beat cop positions. Lots of openings because the city/state is broke and civil servants are leaving, their positions left unfilled. Now do to public pressure about lack of officers he's gonna take the final remaining desk officers and replace them with civilians. Chicago already has more police per capita than any other city.
I could tell you whats wrong with Chicago, I lived there 17 years. My opinion would lack political correctness.

I think what Chicago needs is a good community organizer. Anybody know any good ones?

Hey rohm, how is those strictist gun laws in the nation working out for ya?

and in some cases, "venting on an unsuspecting public", may be why they were driving a squad desk in the first place.

Not knowing what jobs to which they were assigned, there is a LOT of administrative stuff associated with policing that has to be done. Sometimes it is too technical to efficiently get civilians up to speed, and that does not include some number of duties that require LE status to see or handle the paper. In an agency the size of CPD, 200 officers is a drop in the bucket; figure that it takes at least 5 officers to staff around the clock.

Not to mention that the mayor is question is a clown.

Great idea. Now we'll have a couple hundred pissed-off cops "venting" on an unsuspecting puplic.

Never happen. With the exception of a few rotten apples Chicago Police Officers are tops. Add to that the constant scrutiny by the public via cell phone cameras and the media they can't take a false step. God bless em, I don't know anybody that would take that job. You should see all the **** that goes on in Chicago that the beat cop is supposed to handle.

he's a clown looking to prove a bad idea is correct.
Think about it.
Every department has a few bad eggs. well managed departments hand these bad eggs the keys to a squad desk where they cannot perform roadside body cavity searches on soccer moms.
but come times like this ... who would you want to send if you were Rahm?
