Tide has Shifted - Mags and Ammo in stock

Stopped by my favorite place to get ammo from, tonight after work. Well, lately it's been my favorite place to look at empty shelves. lol What did I see... Bird shot, bird shot, CB... oh wait... Mini Mag HP, Mini Mag SV, Blazer bluk!!! I left with 2,000 rounds out the door for $110.12.

Trying to decide if I should run back tomorrow and try that again. Wanted to give others a shot at some ammo but have a feeling someone is going to just buy it all and flip it.

I hope that is a sign of what is to come! :)

My local ammo outlets have no stock of 9mm or .22, and a limited supply of .45 ammo.

That is they have NO .22 ammo. Not even the pricy stuff.
I did see some 9mm in the high end range, at $1.50/round. Maybe 200 rounds total.
I even saw 40 rounds of .223 on the shelf (2 boxes of 20) for $40. At $1 per trigger pull I guess that's kind of cheap nowadays. :(

I want to frenzy to last just a few more days. I bought two new M&P AR's and I want to sell one at double the price to kind of have a free one. :D

The way it is right now, selling a new M&P AR-15 for $1500 seems possible.... ;)

Tide has shifted??

Not here in North West Louisiana. Shelves are bare. Including WalMart, Academy, Bass Pro.

It seems to be getting better. I just received 3250 rounds of .22, Notified today of 1000 rounds of 9mm, and 3 BX 25 mags have shipped and will be here next week. Still looking for Glock 19 mags so when I find 2 of them I will be all set to ride out this madness. I am only ordering from places that have not gone up on prices. The ammo was from Cabellas and the mags were direct from Ruger.

I expect the tide will shift shortly, a lot of folks have been buying extremely high amounts of firearms and ammo because they are worried it will be outlawed and they won't have it....since they don't have the cash on hand to buy it they are slapping it all on plastic...as the card statements start rolling in and they see how much they owe and what the interest is on any balance they carry their buying will cease and they will likely be selling some of the hoards at a loss like we've seen happen before. I bet by June it will be happening.

Thanks for the info....I was trying to verify this story but couldnt.

I couldnt find anything on Code Red either....national news from 3 hours ago says they are "threatening to leave if bill passes"

Yeah, same thing I found. Monday's vote is an unrecorded voice vote, so it's possible it will get shot down then. Our idiot dem governor has been scrambling begging Magpul not to leave.

I support Magpul and any other gun related mfr that wants to leave if all these proposed bills get through. Maybe that will be how we purge the blue majority next election. Scumbags are taking over & ruining this state, like they ruin every blue state.

I can't believe that anyone can't understand what's happening! 3250 rounds 22? 1000 rounds 9mm? People buying stuff they don't need is what's happening. Give me a break! The "gun community" is its own worst enemy!

The quantity is a matter of opinion. Many long time shooters, including me, have been buying by the case for years. My last .22 LR purchase was in October - four cases of federal at $170/case. That's 21k and about a year's worth of shooting for me.

My centerfire range ammo is all hand loads. I generally load a minimum of 500 rounds of each caliber at a time and keep considerably more than that on hand. Carry ammo is bought a minimum of 500 rounds. I seldom let any given caliber drop below 1k on hand. And then there's rifle ammo.

Telling some other shooter that he doesn't "need" any particular amount of ammo is just what the anti-gunner does.

Talked to my local Walmart manager here in northern Ohio and they haven't seen a single box of .223 in a month.

Just a few boxes of .22lr /week.

Cabela's has empty shelves as does Bass Pro and Gander Mountain.

The tide has NOT turned in my area of the country.

Went to Gander Mountain this morning before the store opened at 9:00 AM. There were about 20 or so people already waiting to get into the store. Many were there hoping (like me) to get one or two of the CCI 1600 round cases of 22lr. Only 22 they had was a few 100 round plastic cases of 22 shorts. Tide has not turned around here either.

It's worse, if anything by me. People don't even bother anymore with local stores. This has turned people I know into online shoppers. Which is actually quite funny because they swore people only used computers for facebook.

I'm one of many many many hobby shooters on here that enjoys shooting just as much as other people enjoy their hobbies. Does anyone tell a model rail roader how many pieces of rolling stock they can have or how many feet of track ? How about those people with metal detectors ? And all the other collecting hobbies ?

There have been 65,376,373 background checks completed for Americans purchasing firearms since February of 2009.

What can I say. How many firearms did these people, each, actually buy in one day ? I'd guess more than a few bought more than one. Each new owner wants to shoot his new firearm and wants ammo. It turned into an avalanche once "things" began to roll. Throw the 'flippers" in there and away we go. All I can say. It ain't over til' it's over. :D

I walked into my local Walmart on Wed. morning just before 8 am and they had just stocked a bunch of Winchester 5.56 55 grn FMJ. 3 box limit but I had my son with me and so we were able to get 6 boxes at about 12.00 a box. It's all about timing.

I highly agree. I buy by the case, been doing it for as long as I can remember (and I ain't no spring chicken) :D. I also reload for CF Handguns,Bolt Action and Modern Sporting Rifles. Carry ammo is all store bought. My "given ammo on hand" is a bit higher and I'm not in a stew over reloading essentials by any means and won't be any time soon.

Throw the grandkids in there and that's a pile of 22LR's in a years time. Brass is also recyclable and not to bad for some extra $$. That's also more $$ for ammo.

Tide has turned

Don't know about ammo but the asking price tonight on Gunbroker for Ar-15 type rifles is coming down.

Would be like me telling my wife she doesn't need another pair of shoes. She "needs" shoes. I "need" a closet full of ammo. We have been married 34 years. Actually, the floor on her side of the closet is stacked with shoes. My side is stacked with cases of ammo.

Update on Chicago suburbs area...

LGS had 30 or so black 30/rnd PMags in stock (like 6 Gen 3, the rest Gen 2). And about 30 GI mags in stock. All were $30 each. They limited us to buying 6.

Their shelves were full of 9mm (about .50/rnd).

One local Walmart was getting shipments in here and there, but for 2 days that I checked had Winchester 5.56 at .64/rnd and 9mm at .28/rnd. (3 box limits of course).

After shortages since the panic started, I saw all the above last week. Hopefully the supply holds.
