I have some deep, dark, terrible secrets I feel impelled to confess. Perhaps my doing so will help some of you good folks to unburden yourselves as well. Here goes:

I really like Spam. And liver, and okra, and squash, and grits, and buttermilk, and turnips, and blackeyed peas. I'm an old East Tennessee boy, and sometimes just can't help myself. I fried up some Spam for breakfast this morning. :(

I don't much care for catfish. For a Tennessee native this is practically a hanging offense.

I only own two handguns now. Oh, sure, they're both good solid S&W revolvers, but there are only two. And since I live on Social Security, there won't be any more.

I still say "Yes ma'am, no ma'am, thank you ma'am, please." And I don't give a damn if they like it or not, I am by God going to open doors for women, and men for that matter. I'm seventy-five, so sue me.

I'll fish for anything, but have a terrible weakness for catching very large carp on light tackle.

I will not watch any so-called "reality TV" (a total oxymoron) that features phony staged or deliberately-generated competition, bad-mouthing and back-stabbing. Or crude people getting drunk and behaving stupidly. "Crochet Wars" my elderly derriere! Closest I'll come to reality TV is "The First 48", "Alaska State Troopers", "Border Wars", "Swamp People", and "Animal Cops".

I don't understand why the hell anyone would have the slightest interest in Lindsey Lohan; anyone named Kardashian, Snooki or JWoww; or the very public private lives of flakes like Charlie Sheen.

My favorite caliber is .38 Special (+P), my favorite rifle style is lever action, and my pick of shotgun design is side-by-side, box-lock, two-trigger doubles.

Okay, Father, give me my penance. Just don't make me watch reruns of "Real Housewives Of Any Damn Where".

Maybe as part of your penance you should also do seven
"Old Number 7"s, if you know what I mean...;)

Forget the 7 HM's, you need atleast a thousand Hail Mary's and a million Our Father's. Who in their right mind eats carp, and not that wholesome other fresh water white meat fish, catfish?

If you're looking for absolution, forget it. The best I can do is keep you in Purgatory, but only if you renounce carp....oh, and Spam as well.

My grandpa liked to carp fish and it seems like we went every day in the summer when school was out and I have caught a blue million but I have never saw them cooked so they were fit to eat. He knew people that would take them so we gave them away. Catfish are good to eat. Larry

I can't imagine not liking fried spam....now carp...that's a different story. Fun to catch but too many other things to put in my mouth to eat one of them. I tend to agree pretty much with everything else the OP said though.

Not sure about all this confessional stuff: I'm Protestant.

But I don't like catfish, either. I prefer to fish for trout or salmon, not easily done here in Texas, but I did that elsewhere. White (sand) bass put up a good fight for their size. Haven't caught any hybrid stripers yet. Not too keen on black bass. Crappie taste good. Sill prefer trout, broiled. I like their looks better, too. I have framed prints of trout and salmon. None of bass or catfish. In restaurants I usually order marine fish. Red Lobster has some good Pacific Rockfish. I think their cod is overpriced.

I do eat Spam, but not turkey Spam. Tried it once recently. Never again!

I have to be careful in Mexican restaurants, as I'm very allergic to jalapeno peppers. Causes an asthma attack.

I'm trying to eat more fresh food, less from cans.

I pity those trying to live on Social Security. Not many guns bought, for sure. I sympathize with the OP. But it beats working for a living! (I need to finish writing a book and sell it.)

I do follow some celebrities, but most are dysfunctional and/or too liberal for me to want to know them. I do like to gawk at certain favorite models. I watch Leno, but not Letterman, unless he has a guest I want to see. I can't discuss Kimmel on this board, but have a reason not to watch him, other than that I never find him funny. I watched the gun shows on Discovery. As close as I get to "reality TV." I have watched the Batchelor a few times. Some of the chicks are cute, but the plots are probably staged.

I do like certain crime shows on TV, and some wildlife programming.

Not much else to confess. Oh I'm a Baptist, but I used to drink occasionally, mainly wine with meals. Had to quit, as the doctor told me that alcohol conflicts with a medicine that I have to take. But I mainly see myself as a general Protestant. If devout Baptists knew that I drank, I'd probably have been seen as an instrument of the Devil! That's all the religion that I'll risk here, folks! :D

What about you Catholics eating fish on Fridays? Do you really do that, or is it a myth? I do eat a lot of salmon, for the flavor and the Omega-3 acids. And I buy eggs carefully, to get the heart-healthy sort. I keep my weight down to good limits for my height.

Actually I didn't say I EAT carp, I just love to catch them. It's kind of like hooking a submarine on light gear.

I don't eat any fish I catch, except trout and an occasional white bass. I just catch 'em, and if they aren't injured I put 'em back.

When I was a kid in Tennessee, however, my grandfather caught carp and knew how to prepare them. Out of clean water they were very tasty. They're an extremely popular food fish in the UK, much of Europe and parts of Asia, and in the UK are sport fish that have huge following.

I want to taste smoked carp one day. I hear it's very good, but I like most smoked fish. Wish I could still get real Scottish kippers without having to mortgage my grandchildren.

If you ever get a chance to try smoked carp fresh and hot out of the smoker you would change your mind. Now after a few days of sitting in a refrig or whatever, they arent as nice as they dry and get a little harder and tougher. I have had smoked catfish too and they are great.
A hundred years ago I worked for the wisconsin state conservation dept in wisconsin for the fisheries division. We used to net em by the ton on some details and get rid of em.

I think I am going to stick with eating Lobsta at the Lobster Pound in Ogunquit, Maine, rather than any of the above:).

I'm not Catholic either. As for drinking, I had to quit that 32 years ago next month. Made me want to hang-glide in elevator shafts. Also made me break out in strange places. Birmingham, Cleveland...

I can't speak for all Catholics, but this family eats fish on Fridays. And judging by the eating establishments around these parts, a ton of folks eat fish on Fridays during Lent.

Wisconsin Fish Fry. There's nothing like it. ;)

I LOVE seafood! Carp, tuna, caviar (red and black), lobster, sushi, sushimi, raw oysters, clams, shrimp. If i dont like it its probably because i have not tried it.

I also love red meat and pretty much any meat cooked rare, bloody.

My favorite Sunday breakfast is backed potatoe, smoked salmon or hearing, bread with butter and caviar, any real cheese (none that Kraft slices), cut onion and vodka.

I quit smoking last week and i cant stop eating seeds now!! :(

Beer to me is a food group and im quite happy consuming in for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack. If beer looks like lemon aid then its not beer.

Also hate reality tv and dont watch any of it. Anything honey boo boo, snooki or Kardshian should be......aaargghh....nvm!

My ideal gun is in semi auto form and my ideal rifle starts with a A and ends with a K

My apologies, folks. I have been politely but firmly advised by the staff that I strayed into territory I shouldn't have under the rules in my original post. They were right, I was careless.

Sorry. Won't happen again--I like it here.
