It's better than the alternative.
I've had a bad back since 1973--old war injury. Now on Medicare (basic) and Tricare. I went to a pain management Doc and the insurance covered everything--two facet blocks and finally a bilateral lower lumber RF ablation. Short version--they used long needles to burn the nerves off with radio frequency transmission. It did get me from sleeping in a recliner for a year back to sleeping in a bed, but a few months later, as the nerves grew back, I had near-paralyzing spasms in the lower back that causes me to be hesitant to undergo a repeat treatment. MY hesitancy may be deminishing though. My back is pretty much taking away all mobility and quality of life.
If u guys think Medicare is bad u should try dealing with NY State workers comp. I suffered a significant back injury in Feb of 2021. It was clear I needed surgery. But NY comp board says there’s a protocol of treatments that are less invasive. Chiropractic, physical therapy, injections etc. But evrtytime the dr prescribes a treatment the insurance companies deny it. Then you have a hearing. Then it gets approved, but in the mean time we’ve wasted a month and lawyers from both sides are getting paid. Long story short 1 yr and 1 week after injury I had surgery. I’ve been recovering for about 11 weeks. This is why medical care is so expensive. Two lawyers and a judge argue about what’s good for you. Silly me, I thought that was the DRs job.
