I respect your determination and I value your opinion. But let me share my view. The guys you had to deal with in Nam were fighting civil war and foreign aggression. In both cases the enemy was clearly defined. You, on another side, would have to fight democratically elected government of your own country which can be labeled as a treason. Yes, infringement of constitutional rights should be considered a treason, but our nation would wait for Supreme Court to call it that. Another thing, your enemy in Nam had but life to loose, and their concept of life and death as you know is quite different from the Christian one. You would have to be willing to sacrifice not only yours comfortable way of life but to endanger the lives of everyone close to you.
Never mind, you will never have to make these choices. Because 2A will stay where it is forever. Nobody needs to abolish it. The transfer and possession will be criminalized to the point when only criminals will own the guns. And criminals are not a threat to any government, they are the money source. With extended background search, DUI and pot convicts will become prohibited from owning firearms on the grounds of mental instability. After that Prozac users turn will come. (Home violence was covered 15 years ago, did not go nowhere). If non of it applies to you, than you are one-in-hundred adult male.
What would you do if the presence of 22LR cartridge in your house would make you a felon? Would you cling to it or would you dispose of it? You want to get a deer? Get a bag for a ranger too, because his laptop will show that you are a felon on the loose. You killed an armed burglar? 20 years for you on multiple counts. Do they need to confiscate? No, most of the people will turn the guns in. The rest will hide them and never talk about.
Thanks for pointing me to Oath Keepers, good to know. Hope they will get the top brass on board.
