M&P 15-22 Picture Thread

The dot is mounted on top of the ACOG on the 15, not on the side of the 15-22 (which looking at the pic again, if it was mounted on the 15-22, it would be on the 3 o'clock side - that would be the right - not 9 o'clock).

Look closer at the 15-22. There is a dot mounted on the NC star scope in the 9 o'clock position.

Oh, and left hand side is the driver's side. Right side is the passenger side.

And if the poster seemed to notice that there was a micro-dot at the 9 o'clock of the 15-22, then it would seem that his attention to detail would not have allowed him to overlook the obvious micro-dot on the ACOG.

I did see the dot atop the ACOG. Yes, I know that the micro dots are usually mounted on either the top or on offset mounts on the right side. That's why I asked? I thought that it was kind of cool that Brett did something a little different.

Yes for those of us that use a standard Clock, the 15-22 has a micro red dot mounted @ 9. The setup is the NcStar Mark III "One Sight System". The reason the dot is @ 9 is because of the lack of adjustment coupled with the funky .22 ballistics. With it sitting on top @12 like the ACOG, I can't get it sighted in (not enough range of adjustment).

Any reason why you didn't color in the "22" on the 15-22? It may pass the looks test as an M&P 15 from a distance but you certainly will be able to tell when you pull the trigger.

I was wondering who would he the first to comment on that.
I figured I'd stop there and see how it looked. I was gonna go with Olive drab to match the grip but it doesn't stand out as nicely as the white.

I'll probably fill in the "22" tonight. I'm not going to fill in the caliber and what not on the other side. Just wanted the S&W and "Made in USA" to stand out a little.

I went with crayon. I was concerned that paint thinner or acetone would be too harsh as a cleaner for the paint and would somehow mar the gun. Plus, with a toothpick and brush you can remove the crayon if you so choose.
I'm debating doing my Glock 23 as well. If I do, I'll use Testors model paint for that one.

Acetone will melt the polymer, as will many paint thinners. As for paint, acrylic hobby paint does well and cleans up with water while still wet. There are extremely fine-point paint pens at most big art/hobby stores that make filling in the markings easier than using a brush.

a squirt of brake cleaner on a rag, wipe diagonally to get the paint off. if you go up and down or side to side it will take some of the lettering paint off if you press too hard. going diagonally solves that. couple swipes and it comes off, no residue, finish off with a squirt of remoil on rag and wipe over.

MAKE SURE YOU USE NON-CLORINATED BRAKE FLUID. REGULAR FLUID WILL DISSOLVE THE POLYMER!
