Oh and not to keep straying far from topic--but this is related in a way. I read a comment by another on another forum who was complaining about the Wealthy--that when they retire? they should give up what they put into Social Security--and I was the only one who chimed up and said: "Why should they? they paid into it-it's theirs."

My point is--that if I were still doing business with Starbucks? and since from the story I read--the man did seem to ask in a polite way-for those not to bring in weapons. One has got to respect that even if one may not agree with it?

Not to pry but what site was that!?

Not to pry but what site was that!?

It was on Yahoo News about 3-4 days ago? Ill see if I can remember what the News story title is? and will let you know if I find it? Under the story-one of the people posting made a comment about the story and added the above and other stuff I cant remember? and what kinda disturbed me was--that the majority of the people making comments--agreed that those with money should give up their paid for Social Security.

If I were dirty rich? and I was going to retire? most likely I might not accept the SS but--I wouldnt just throw it to the wind either.

Wow, kinda spooky. But now that I think about it, this Halloween I may dress as a redistributing liberal and take half the candy from the kids who come by and give it to the ones who are too lazy to trick-or-treat.

Why would gun owners what to go to Starbucks anyway. Most of the gun owners I know drink coffee the old fashioned way, in this area it means ordering like this, "one regular, one black, one light and sweet and that order is usually given at a diner where the coffee is as hot as the surface of the sun. This is where the men get their coffee. The softer side of my neighborhood goes to Starsucks for a Venti decaf, 2 shots of espresso, blended with ice and 2% milk mocha, with whipped cream on top.
Without getting political can you spot the difference in party affiliation? I think we all can.

I just listened to Mr. Schultz on Cavuto (FOX). He want's his cake and eat it too. He says he's not pro or anti-gun but doesn't want guns in his stores. Even CC! He says he won't ban them or refuse to serve those carrying but wants us to act responsibly!!!! Really? I feel much better having my CC piece on my body than stuck in my car for a multitude of reasons. Including being much more safe and definitely more responsible!

He, IMO, played his hand today in that interview. His message was confusing at best because he was saying one thing but he was conveying quite another thing. My mind is made up....Starbucks is anti-gun!

For my money and MY RIGHTS....I'll pass by Starbucks in the future!

Bingo.... my home brew Kona Classic is to die for. ;)

Whether you go to Starbucks is up to you. My take on this is Starbucks said they'd allow open carry if it was legal in the state and (apparently) people decided to make a political statement out of it. I am very sure they got a lot of complaints. One time I was deer hunting near my home on a Saturday. I had dropped back to the house for some hot soup and a friend rang the doorbell. He was noticeably taken aback when I answered the door with my 8 3/8 Model 27 in a shoulder holster. This fellow was a gun owner.

I just saw the CEO of Starbucks on Fox News. He very strongly implied he was OK with concealed carry.

Regarding wearing a ski mask, VW has a funny commercial about just that. All-New Volkswagen Beetle Convertible | Mask - YouTube

My point is that they made their stance known. The other side pressured them and our side stood up for them although excessively at times. The gun community made extra visits to the stores when an anti boycott was scheduled so that it would not make any difference to their bottom line. Now they don't want us there.

I agree it is their right to do this, but my problem is they allowed themselves to be bullied into going against their own wishes. Therefore they caved. they changed their policy, therefore they caved.

As far as coffee goes, it isn't coffee unless it is hot and black, no sugar, no creamer. no special flavors. I would never pay their outrageous prices, but my wife likes the fancy frozen flavored coffee like drinks. It would not have been unfathomable to think I may have gone into a Starbucks while she ordered one. Even she, caring less about the the subject has said she will never step foot into a Starbucks

Am I the only one that noticed the repeated references to open carry in the letter? This isn't about concealed carry and it probably isn't about those that open carry responsibly it's about the extremists who turn Starbucks into a circus.

I saw some photos over on THR of some idiot standing in the lobby of a Starbucks with a shotgun in his hands getting his picture taken!

Another photo shows a couple drinking their lattes while the man is holding and AR on his hip!

If I was the Starbucks CEO I'd post every store in the chain after that

Never been in a Starbuck or bought a cup of their coffee.

Didn't go on that "Gun Day" they had a few months back either.

If I did , I'd be feeling quite the fool now!

I don't open carry either. Got nothing to prove. Been quite happy carrying concealed w/license for close to 30yrs. Ain't gotta advertise.

Who's to know what ya got if ya keep it concealed.

A business owner or CEO has one job, keeping profits up,he does that by keeping his customers happy.Liberal, conservative, gay or straight, it doesn't matter. He's in a tight spot and he's being put there by a fringe element. He's a smart guy and the open carry guys are losing here. They do look foolish.

I can't see that this is a problem. I personally don't see any reason for anyone to openly carry a weapon in a public place. If one wants to carry a weapon, concealed carry allows one to carry that weapon without creating any unnecessary issues for other persons. On the whole, Starbucks has been quite supportive of 2nd Amendment rights. However, reality is that firearms owners who carry openly or concealed are not a large part of their clientele. Anti-2nd Amendment extremists have put a lot of pressure on businesses such as Starbucks trying to force them to bar from their property customers who are carrying firearms openly or concealed. It is significant that Starbucks is affirming that it will follow the law rather than simply cave in to pressure from extremists who seek willingly walk on the dead bodies of innocent people to try to advance their anti-2nd Amendment and anti-Constitution agenda.

I applaud Starbucks for not simply mouthing the left-wing line. I will continue to patronize Starbucks as I like the coffee. My daughters enjoy going there, and for that reason alone I will continue to go to Starbucks. Concealed carry suits me fine. I really don't want anyone to know if I am or am not armed. I've never open carried as that has never been my style. In my mind, it would be like walking down a city street with a M-1 Garand in my hand and a couple bandoleers of M-2 over my shoulder.

I got nothing to add to this debate, but will say I side with those who think Starbuck's position is reasonable.

I go, very occasionally, to Starbucks and find them a pleasant place to while away an hour. I also have been saying for years that with all those wacky sweet flavours, Starbucks is a place for folks who don't actually like coffee!

A good exemple is my current situation. I help a friend on his farm, that thing is gigantic. He is growing oranges for juice and raises cows. Even though it is private property I can't carry open. Here in Florida I have to be camping, fishing, hunting or shooting to open carry. But it would be unlawful to carry open while working. It is lawful to carry open on your property but not on somebody else's, even if he allows it

You can imagine how great it is to work in the sun with a concealed firearm here in Florida. My main reason is to protect myself from snakes, gators and other creatures trying to kill me.

Open carrying has its reasons. Here in Florida you run around 90% of the year only in flip flops, shirt and shots. It is not hard to spot a printing firearm, so what is the difference between open carry and a firearm printing through the shirt?

...My main reason is to protect myself from snakes, gators and other creatures trying to kill me...

If your friend is good with it, why not just say you are hunting snakes and other varmints in the unlikely event someone complains? ;)

I will never willingly patronize Starbucks, and for two simple reasons.

I think their coffee is abominable swill, foul-tasting and overpriced. And nobody really goes there anymore - it's too crowded.

I don't always drink coffee, but when I do, I fix it at home MY way - instant coffee warmed to perfect drinking temperature in the microwave, a dash of milk, a packet of Splenda, and a dollop of Bailey's Irish Cream. It's stirred gently in a clockwise direction with a stainless steel spoon for 3 seconds so all ingredients are melded to perfection. Takes a total of 2 minutes, doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I don't have to drive anywhere, total cost is probably less than 75 cents and it's way satisfying.
