When I first got my permit I decided that I was either always going to carry or I was never going to carry. I have decided that I will carry in every place I am legally allowed to do so.

A couple of weeks ago I went to a gathering of the security team for my church, you would think if anyone is going to be armed it would be them right? Nope there were maybe three people there who were armed. It surprises me to run into “gun” people that only carry when they “think they might need it” or only when they’re out after dark or some other such rationale.

My question is excepting places where you may not legally carry a firearm what percentage of the time do you carry?

Everywhere all the time is the response you will get the most.

Those that think their crystal ball is working properly are mistaken.

For some the will and the need to protect themselves isn't as important. This comes from a lack of understanding or they refuse to see the world as it really is.

My response of 50-75% needs further explanation. As a retiree I live in a 55+ community with 3 pools. I use the golf cart and am at one of those pools(and or hot tubs) daily and I do not carry there. Dressed only in swimming trunks and going into the pool would make carry very difficult. However anytime I go outside of the community I am armed.

I carry whenever I leave the house unless I have to go to the socialist state of MD. It's just a natural thing I keep my vehicle keys in the lock box with my firearms and first thing I grab is the firearm then decide what keys to grab. I use to decide on which handgun to take but now I only take my CW45 and at least one extra magazine.

Don't leave home without it.

I've had a CCW for years but really didn't carry CCW that much until recently although I almost had a gun handy at least in the car. Most of the guns I own are 4.5-5" versions and at least where I live not too practical/comfortable for concealed carry. That was the very reason I finally bought a Shield (that and the current street climate in US and FL). Now I don't ever leave home w/o it and its second nature like carrying a wallet. If I have to go into one of the few places I know I can't carry like bank or PD it gets locked in glove box.

I carry all the time, in any place that is legal. Unfortunately we can not carry in church, in Texas, if we are a part of the Church Security. For that reason I am going to drop my name from the security list. 75 to 100% of the time.

Not inside my apartment, though a couple of guns are always available indoors. If I so much as step out my door three feet to the mailbox, or take the dog out to whiz, I'm armed. I obey the law about carrying in the post office, etc. Other than that, where I go my EDC goes.

Funny thing... like they have always said about car accidents you are most likely to die close to home. I walked out the front door unarmed a few weeks ago to go to the mailbox out front. Barely got out the door when two large dogs standing out front decided I was fair game and got nasty vicious and chased me back in side. If it were not for their extremely apologetic owner who ran and knocked on my door (likely after hearing some loud expletives and something about shooting the ***'s) before I could get back outside with a nearby 45 there likely would have been a shooting. Its not just people you have to be aware of and all the more reason to be diligent.

All day everyday, when and where legal.
We're goin' on a roadtrip on Tuesday for another doctors appointment.
I don't mind the 2 hour road trip or the doctors visit. The problem is that it's in Frederick Maryland and Maryland is an (expletive deleted) state and doesn't reciprocate with West Virginia.
Spending the day snubbyless is something I'm definitely not looking forward to.

When I first got my permit, it was kind of based on the idea that if I ever forgot to unload my gun after a hunt or put it in my bag, or put on a coat that would cover up my gun, I would be covered. After getting my first real small gun though, I decided to start doing it when we went to town. Then gradually school, then work, and now I would say it's 90% of the time! I even CC at home since I have found some really comfy holsters.
I wouldn't say it is a good idea to carry "only when you think you should" but to each his own.

I live in a 720 square foot apartment; the farthest away I can get from my gun and still be in my home is 30 feet.

Because I have to go out a couple of times a night with the dogs, I carry on my person until the last time I take them out.

After that I don’t move around my home much and I generally have my gun on the end table next to the couch. If I get up to go surf the net in the den I put the gun on the computer desk and when I go to bed the gun is on the night stand.

50-75% .... 8 hours of my day are at work, where I cannot really carry. (without trashing the gun, my clothes, and/or loose my job)
