The godfather and scarface....

If you don't appreciate the dramatic qualities of black&white cinema, you just don't get it. Casablanca and countless other classics must be seen in the original b&w format. Colorized movies are an abomination, that should be outlawed. Another thing about Casablanca is that it was shot in sequence. Very rare.
And, I was never impressed with The Godfather, and I knew Scarface was trash in the first 10 minutes. I'm not much of a mafia movie fan, except "The Valachi Papers".

I am surprised that The Godfather has that many detractors.
I saw it in the theater in 1972. I was mesmerized from the first scene at the wedding. I never thought that the movie was made to be so much mob centric as family centric. Almost soap operish. But very good soap opera! My all time favorite movie.

Speaking of Diane Keaton, I was devastated when her stupid Annie Hall movie beat out Star Wars for best movie. The movie that revived Hollywood.

You just have crappy outdated taste in movies then. ;) Color! Psha! What an abomination the invention of color photography. Sound too! Perhaps you could tell us about the good old days of silent films? Or why don't we just ditch the videography all together. RADIO was a true dramatic medium. Hell, we could go hard core and throw all the way back to when stories were told by spitting chewed charcoal onto cave walls, in black and white, because colored minerals hadn't been invented yet.

I hope that was at least partially in jest. Otherwise a bit harsh and overstated. :( Oreo, black and white? :)

B&W is a dramatic medium, whether it's photography or movies. That's not saying color isn't welcome or needed. I couldn't imagine big blockbuster movies being in B&W, like Dr. Zhivago, Sound of Music, or How the West was Won. Study a little bit of Film Noir movies, or Ansel Adams photography. Did Adams ever take a color pic? I complained about "colorized" movies, that is not the same as a color movie.

If they were made with B/W, that's the way I like to see them.
Not a huge fan of coloring old B/W movies.
I have a few of the old Bogart movies in 1080i HD..
Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, and Key Largo I have in HD.
That's the way you want to watch them. Makes the old SD
versions look pretty grainy..
